Lg, Describe the pipe tape. Is this Teflon Tape? How many wraps did it take to seal? Did you end up wrapping each piece separately? Sure seems like a soft silicon gasket would be more secure. Anyone had any experience forming a gasket?

Building a DIY stir plate and just received the stir bar I ordered - 1/2 x 1/8. Looks kind of small. Is this going to work with a 2000 ml flask? If not, what size do I need? Thanx

Lg, This is Brilliant! I too have been interested in the benefits of a conical, but not in paying the price. Kudos to you for doing the leg work that I believe is going to result in a workable solution. Regarding a suitable gasket, I wonder if it wouldn't be possible to fabricate one in place...

Making a 2 qt starter and boiled 6 oz of DME as per MrMalty's instructions. As it's cooling, I notice a lot of sediment of DME that didn't dissolve. Is this normal?
