    Sediment on top of carboy!

Well I wouldn't call it ugly, I loved waking up to a krausen mess. There's a joke in there somewhere..

    Sediment on top of carboy!

I had a question concerning the same issue. I don't have a pic but it looks very similar to the above. I have a 4.5-4.75 gallon batch in a 5 gallon bucket; very little headspace. But I do have a blowoff attached to a large mason jar w/ sanitizer. About 12 hrs after pitching, it was undergoing...

How do I cool wort down faster?!

I've only used an ice bath for my 2 batches, careful to keep the lid on tight and not spill anything in while stirring, I have cooled my batches to temp in ~20 mins just using this method.

Advice on your first blow off tube!

Similar thing happened to me. Made my brown ale batch last night, set it up blowing off into a tall mason jar half filled with sanitizer/water solution. I woke up w/ it over flowing. Easy clean up but when in doubt, go bigger

    Plastic vs Glass Carboy

So a guy nearby who's real big into aquariums had a pallet of these, brand new, never opened and for $3 I couldn't pass them up. For a primary, what do you think? Everything I've read from the forums seems to point to them being ok, but the corners could pose a problem for gunk buildup...

    Plastic vs Glass Carboy

Revvy, I can't find it but I know you posted something about the recycle number on the bottom of the buckets pertaining to food grade plastics. I can't remember what you said, but you needed to look for a specific recycle code before using. I bought a couple 5 gallon plastic buckets from the...

Yeah I was planning on storing them in the house at about 68-70'F. Cool, thanks all

    Cold crashing/Problems with carbonation

I've had my brew fermenting for a week, stable gravity readings after about day 6. I then cold crashed for about 5 days now. So total, I've had it in the primary for nearly 2 weeks. Reading this post, I have to ask if I should place my batch back inside and let some yeast 'reawaken' before...
