American IPA Hogfish Dead 30 Minute IPA

This turned out great. No DMS taste from the short boil time. It must be boiled vigorrously....on the edge of boil over. The taste is very rounded with the continuous hop technique.

    Banana Bread Holiday Ale

Awesome beer. I've given some taste tests to friends (some who don't even like beer) and all like/love the taste. This is a winner. It's very smooth, the vanilla lingers on the tongue, the cinammon is nice and up front. I will brew this again. A very subtle banana flavor from the yeast...

    lets pick an IPA!

Tuck, I brewed the 30-minute IPA on saturday. It went very well. I boiled the shiza out of the wort to get rid of the DMS. I also continuous hopped the simcoe/cascade mix from 20minutes until flame out. It's fermenting well in the basement. There is so much hops in this beer that it's...

    lets pick an IPA!

If you brew it for 60 minutes then knock the Warrior hops down to .65 oz or you'll be at 90 IBU or so. We can swap a couple bottles if you brew this. I am brewing this on Saturday. I went to the LHBS today and got the grain. I am doing 30 min. based on my recipe. Happy brewing!!!!!!

    Banana Bread Holiday Ale

I put this in the keg today and it smells wonderful.....it really does have a lot of banana bread smell. I fermented this at a really high temp to bring out more banana esters from the Weihenstephaner yeast. If fermented down to 1.008. I drank the hydrometer sample and it could probably use a...

    30 minute boil

Sure, the longer you boil the more bitterness. Ahhhh, but add more hops and you can achieve the same IBU in less time which, according to recently uncovered documents, is also smoother tasting and less harsh than a full boil. That's it, i'm brewing 30 minute IPA. Screw those 60 and 90...

Anyone have experience with a 30 minute boil and adding more hops to get the target IBU's? I have a brew this weekend and want to experiment with a 30 minute continuous hopping.

    Dunkles Weissbier Weihenstephaner Dunkel Clone

Mt. Hood is a great Noble Hop alternative. I use it for all my light beers, hefes, Wits, etc. I believe it's actually a derivative of the Hallertauer. Actually it is... I just googled this info..... Great interest was centered around the development, both in the United States and in...

    Banana Bread Holiday Ale

Actually I cut way back on the spices from the above recipe. Here is what I put in the secondary. If the beer needs more than I'll add it to the keg. 1 Tablespoon Pure Vanilla 1/2 Tablespoon Black Walnut extract 1/2 Tablespoon Cinnamon Thanks for everyone's input. I'd put it in the...

    Dunkles Weissbier Weihenstephaner Dunkel Clone

Notes I brewed this and compared it to the original Weihenstephaner Dunkel Weizen and it is dead on in color and taste. I can't tell you which one I liked better because they actually tasted nearly identical. If you want an authentic Dunkel-Weizen then this is the beer to brew. Happy...

    Banana Bread Holiday Ale

You've never had anything like this before. This ale utilizes the sweet banana esters of the Wyeast Weihenstephan yeast to bring out a smooth, banana bread taste. The flaked oats give a soft mouthfeel. The specialty grains give a hint of nutty bread. This will be the Edwort's Apfelwein of...
