Question about 6 month old extract kit

I didn't mention the yeast because that was a given to replace. I was more worried about the crushed grains and figured DME had a great shelf life. Thanks again everyone. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

Jasper's The Crimson Abomination Red I.P.A.

Has anyone brewed/tasted Jasper's The Crimson Abomination Red I.P.A.? I was thinking about ordering this extract kit and wanted to see if anyone had tried it. Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Mold?

Tough to tell by the picture. You're ok if it looks like bubbles, but if it looks more like spider webs, you have an infection. Good luck. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

Should I dry hop in 7.8 gallon bucket primary or 5 gallon glass carboy secondary?

This is a personal preference question. 7.8 bucket: too much head space 5 gallon glass carboy: I hate to transfer beer, much harder to get the hops in the small mouth, and hard to siphon with loose hops. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    1st time dry hopping question

Thanks for all of the great advice. I actually purchased a 7.8 gallon bucket and was thinking about using that as a possible secondary. Will the extra head space be a problem for a 5 gallon batch or should I try to find a 5 gallon bucket? Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    1st time dry hopping question

I thought about the marbles in the hop bag process but it seemed very difficult to get everything into the small carboy mouth. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    1st time dry hopping question

Decided to drop the hops first and transfer the beer to secondary on top of the hops. Some of the hops are dry and floating on top. Any suggestion on how to get those dry hops down to the beer (5 gallon glass carboy)? Thanks in advance for any help. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Question about Centennial hops.

I purchased a kit today and noticed that it had three 1oz. bags of centennial hops all labeled the exact same. The brewing procedures call for flavoring, aromatic, and dry hops for dry hopping. Which bag is for flavoring, which bag is for aromatic, which bag is for dry hopping, or are they all...

    Did I bottle too early?

From experience, buy a large Rubbermaid container with a lid. Saves you having to clean up. Win win. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Sanitizing equipment question

What did you sanitize with? If Star San, transfer while equipment is wet. Don't fear the foam. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Selecting a carboy

I wouldn't. I use a 6 gallon carboy at minimum. You'll need some extra space for 5 gallon brews. My favorite fermenter is my 7.8 gallon plastic bucket that I picked up at my local home-brew store. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

    Growing White Spots in Secondary

My last batch looked very similar. I posted about the same thing and everyone assured me it was completely normal. It sucks having the first time brewer worries. Your batch looks great. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew

Weird cloudy stuff floating in bottled beer (with pic)

I bottled five days ago and noticed today that when I turn my bottled beer upside down that a weird cloudy stuff starts to float around. It seems to go away after a while. First time bottling and wanted to make sure this was normal and not a possible infection. Sent from my iPad using...

I noticed that my carboy (secondary) has a white cloudiness above the sediment and a little on the sides. The top of the beer looks great and just wanted to make sure everything is ok. Bottling in 3 days. Sent from my iPad using Home Brew
