@Dgallo - I would like to eventually get in one of these FotHB. Like you I brew about once every 2 months. I always keg my brews so any bottling would be done after the fact. Care to share secrets on keeping those bottled homebrews from going flat over long periods of time? Do you bottle from...
yep, I already had that fermzilla thermowell kit and after making my original post above, I also put together something similar to this. Hopefully that will do the trick
My fermentation lid has an extra port where a carbonation QD would normally screw onto, but I would rather add a thermowell there. The threads on that port are PCO 1881. Anyone aware of a thermowell that will screw onto PCO 1881 threads?
I found a better/easier/cleaner way to do this. I bought one of the new fermzilla tri-clamp lids. The inner seal of that lid is too small so it does not seal into the opening of the Speidel, but the flange of the tri-clamp lid matches the lip of the speidel opening so if you add the original...
Good news. The fermzilla tri-clamp lid arrived today. The diameter of the inner part of the lid that fits down into the opening is just a tad too small, maybe by 1/8”, so it does not create a seal on the inner part of the opening. However, the outer flange of the lid matches the outer diameter...
Can someone out there who owns a Fermzilla tell me the exact inside dimension of the top opening? I have a Speidel fermenter and its top opening has an inside diameter of 4 7/8". I was curious if the tri-clamp pressure lid that is designed for the fermzilla would also fit the Speidel opening. I...
be sure you have the connections in the right order. From top to bottom, it should be Eye bolt, washer, false bottom, washer, nut, HED, then wing nut. The wing nut should be the only item below the HED
Hey Thorrak, can you give me some dimensions? Length from the bend in the pipe down to the element (ie how much hangs into the pot) and horizontal length of the base cannister plus the element (how wide of a pot will it fit in). Also, which element is that (wattage)?
I like having both, with the bag inside the malt pipe. when it's time to drain, I hook the winch to the malt pipe and it all comes up together. plus guaranteed no clog. Mayb ethe bag is not needed but it's not any additional work
Not sure if this is a true deep clean but I do this after every brew: remove pipe and false bottom and rinse off with sprayer. Spray and wipe down inside brewzilla to get out all solids. Add pipe and bottom back, then fill with 2-3 gallons water and some PBW. Turn on heat and let it circ for...
This is one of those questions that I am pretty sure of the answer but want to hear from people have actually done it to get any tips or pointers. I normally brew 5 gallon batches so all my equipment is geared toward 5 gallon brews (35L brewzilla, 30L Speidel fermenters and 5 gallon kegs). I...
