My 2 Year Quest for Pliny the Elder

@kaz4121, yes, Hopslam is seasonal, but it's not a limited release so it's usually easy to find. @longdrum, I agree, The Oracle blows Hopslam away. For those that don't know, The Oracle is a limited release DIPA from Bells. I was lucky enough to find a 6-pk sitting on a shelf at my local...

    What are you drinking now?

Just finished my first Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS). It's a good stout with nice bourbon flavor, but I wouldn't camp out over night to get it like many people did.

My 2 Year Quest for Pliny the Elder

I did the same thing when I went to San Diego about a month ago. The store I found it at would only sell two bottles per person so my wife and I each grabbed two. I told the clerk that I'm from Michigan and he said "Pliny tastes like piss compared to Bells Hop Slam". I thought that was kind...

    San Diego, CA

Also, from what I have been reading Temecula isn't worth visiting. Are there any good wineries in Southern California that I should check out?

    First try at a Lambic

That sounds like a plan. I have read about blending for complexity but I hadn't considered it being beneficial for carbonation. With multiple carboys tied up for months on these lambics it looks like I'm going to need to buy a few more!

    First try at a Lambic

My first lambic has been sitting on the cake for about 4 months now, the initial fermentation was also very aggressive for the first 7 days or so. Similar to other advice here, I plan to let it sit in the primary 10-12 months before pitching fruit. Will the lambic blend be viable enough to...

I brewed this, bottled and served at a party last night. It was malty and delicious, everyone loved it. Thank you!

    What was your gateway?

Great responses from everyone. To Cranny's point, I think home brewing does a lot for hop appreciation. There's something special when you can hold fresh hops up to your nose then taste them in your beer.

    What was your gateway?

Sorry if this is a re-post, but I'm wondering what was your gateway to becoming a hop-head? Years ago when I started getting into craft bears I couldn't tolerate bitter beers (sad I know). Then last summer I picked up a 6pk of Sam Adams Noble Pilsner. I know it's not particularly heavily...

SA Noble Pils 2011 falls flat

I didn't taste apple or diacetyl in the first 6-pack that I bought, it was comparable to last year's from what I remember. I picked up another 6er yesterday that I didn't crack yet, I'll give it another look.

Dog hops toxicity - please read!!!

Sorry for your loss. I new hops were bad for dogs, but I didn't know they were that toxic. How much did your dog eat?

    Does Founder's Brewery have tours?

As previously stated, The Hideout and Hop Cat are both definitely worth checking out.

    Hello From Grand Rapids, MI

The only other batch I've brewed was a partial grain brown ale and it turned out pretty good (even though I had no idea what I was doing) so I figured what the hell and jumped right in. I enjoy reading through other peoples experiences and suggestions and using that to tune recipes on Beer...

    Hello From Grand Rapids, MI

Hello all, I'm relatively new to home brew and wine making and recently stumbled across these forums. I have just been searching the threads and soaking up all the knowledge. Right now I have an all-grain noble pils on its primary and just bottled a cabernet sauvignon from a kit. There's...
