DIY Stir Plate For Under $10

Amazon has some pretty good magnetic stir bars and flasks for anyone wanting to buy that part. Just search "stir bar" on Amazon. I also built my own stir plate with a project box from ratio shack, I added a rheostat and an on/off switch. I had an old 12v power supply so I can feed it full power...

Bananas Foster Creamy Ale (All Grain) **pic intensive**

I am going to try a variation on this, by making a base unflavored brown ale and then adding bananas, vanilla, rum, to the secondary.

    Advice? Rye Brown Ale

Well actually the local Home Brew store is having a contest in November. Brew a unflavored brown ale, and then post fermentation add flavors. I believe that is post primary. So I am planning a more standard brown ale with some dark brown sugar. Then going for something close to the Bananas...

    Bottling Ale, with Lager yeast?

Thank you all for your input! I think I will try just room temp carbing a 6 pack maybe and see how it goes! I am sure it will carb much faster at 75-80f than 68f!

    Bottling Ale, with Lager yeast?

Ok... this is probably a strange idea, and possibly a dumb one... lol I am thinking to save space in my ferm chamber... Has anyone herd of, or tried bottling an ale, with a small amount of lager yeast and carbing in a normal refrigerator? I am in a small apartment in Florida and room temps...

    South Florida Brewers Unite!

Hey all! I just started brewing this year! I am Right on the edge of Pompano and Deerfield. I am however in a small apt and can only do stove top boils. But I went straight into AG BIAB. I was actually looking at FLAB and PBDM and thought that the Draughtsmen looked a little more active, but I...

    Partial volume boil?

So I am in a small apartment and don't have to space or place to setup a propane burner and boil large volumes. I have done several AG BIAB on the stove with a 4gall pot, these have turned out great! I guess what I am wondering is, what is the downside of doing a full mash in a cooler and...

    Spice Scaling?

I used BeerSmith to scale a recipe that had Chamomile and it seemed to scale fine. I would think it just needs to be the same percentage scaled up or down. Maybe someone else knows better...
