I really want to support my lhbs, but they're making it hard.

I think I have some pretty good lhbs around but for what ever reason it seems like i can always find a better price online, specifically through northern brewers. I still buy my yeast locally and find some great advice at the lhbs's nearby but for some strange reason everything from ingredients...

Inexpensive American Oak Barrels for aging

Thanks for the feedback. I haven't actually seen them myself. She just brought a flyer home for me to check out. Who did you buy your rum barrel from?

Inexpensive American Oak Barrels for aging

My wife just stumbled across deep south barrels at our local county fair and brought me home a flyer. Looks pretty cool. I'm planning on brewing a bourbon barrel porter and i would love to let it condition in something like that for a few months

Did you like IPA's before home brewing?

When I first started enjoying good craft beers I was more about big malty porters and stouts but over the last year or so i've turned into a huge hop head. Ballast points sculpin, alesmith ipa, stone ipa and port mongo and wipeout ipa- yes please

Stone Brewing announces hotel and massive expansion plans

Happy for all the big news coming out of stone as I love their brew but man they have got to do something about their service there. I'm currently working on the hospital next door and after a few times of extremely lack luster service my buddies and i much rather make the short drive up the...

So I probably need to replace my auto-siphon then, eh?

I had the same trouble with my auto siphon during my last brew session. I eventually gave up on it and bought a new one. Wish i had seen the advice by shushikiary earlier

    4 pack rant

I too have noticed that green flash has been trending more towards the 4 pack. At first i liked the idea as i figured i could get a bit more variety by purchasing 3 different 4 packs instead of 2 6ers but like mentioned above the 4 packs tend to be over priced and thus not worth it.

should i get a propane burner?

I love brewing outside. I tried inside once and it just didn't do it for me. I use the bayou classic off of northern brewer and it's done a good job thus far. Like someone else mentioned I move indoors once it's time to cool the wort. I suppose once I get an immersion chiller I'll do that...

    Screwed up a starter?

"It is best to keep your starter around the general temperature you're going to pitch, if you're going to pitch the complete starter into the beer. According to Dr. Clayton Cone, one of the foremost experts on yeast, the yeast should be within 15F of the wort they're being pitched into. Neva...
