The Highland is a perfect size for what I do

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

I just ordered an Oklahoma Joes Reverse Flow Highland. Can't find them in the big box stores. They only carry the standard flow units. Costs about $100 more but they add the tuning drip trays and a stainless charcoal box. $472.99 with shipping included. If Lowes stocked it it would be around...

    Spike Flex mod

Yes probably but they cost around 50-60 bucks. I don't need it. Remember I only have $270 in each fermenter. Conicals are nice but 2 would have been like 1200. I paid just over 500 for 2.

    Pennsylvania Catalyst Fermenters

2 clean 6.5 gallon Catalyst fermenters for 5 gallon batches. I am the original owner of these. Best fermenters you can get for the money. I paid 199 for each and added the racking valves ($25 each) and the dark covers with access panel for viewing ($30) each. So altogether new this package was...

    Spike Flex mod

I would also like to add that the reason I bought these two Flex fermenters is I want stainless steel. I want the convenience of rigidly welded handles although I recently ordered the caster wheels. But even more is I purchased the coils for temperature control. I love the 4" triclamp opening in...

Do you use the 15 psi capability?

    Spike Flex mod

I don't like the sheet metal hole for the bung. This is the worst part of the design. Spike advertises pressure transfer capability on the Flex but I don't see how the bung stays put when pressure transferring. Spike provides no instructions on how to pressure transfer though. I assume you would...

    Spike Flex mod

Bought 2 Flex units. Decided to upgrade the blow off port by welding a 1.5 ferrule to the lid. Bought some 1.5 cutout flanges and opened them up with the correct taper for a 5 bung. I think it's a 5 or 5.5. Now I can put the airlock on or the manifold to pressure transfer. Found out the Flex lid...

That's fine. I'm not giving them away. Unless you want me to source from China.

$35 each for first run. I make these myself on a manual lathe. If I go higher qty the price will change.

How would I do name plates? I just write the beer name with a magic marker on the splashplate since they change so much. But that's a good point. I'll see if I can come up with something.
