Dumb question ? What does is really mean. Time from pitching to time of the yeast starting to work?

How big is your Carboy in the picture that is shown in your new freezer. I have been shopping for a freezer to get setup to use as a ferm chamber but am not sure what size yet. Could you fit 2 carboys in that 7.1 freezer pictured.

I am wanting to add orange slices to my Carboy tonight. I have heard to soak them in vodka to kill the nasties before adding to my brew. I do not have vodka but I do have everclear. Is everclear to high of alcohol or would it matter?

Light ale extract kit has been in primary since Saturday. Added sugar tonight to up the abv. Almost immediately yeast was happy. Did I ruin my batch. My goal was to up the abv. Any input?

Brewed an extract kit with a light ale on Saturday. Fermentation is right on at this point but the ABV is low with this recipe. What can I do to up the ABV at this point. Am I too late??? Input please!!!!

I brewed a light ale on Saturday. 2 days into fermentation and all is good. My question is can I add some honey to my Carboy to up the ABV% or should I have done so while in the boil process? This recipe was an extract kit full boil method but with a low ABV% and I would like to up it a bit.

Either by accident or on purpose?

I am a newbie with 2 brews under my belt. The first was an imperial porter that I dove into head first. The second, I took it a little easier and decided to brew a basic light ale(which came with my brew kit). How can I up the alcohol% without ruining the overall outcome of some of these extract...

This may be a dumb post. I am curious though. If I am using an extract kit that calls for 1 4lb liquid malt extract , can I add perhaps another bag to make the alcohol% higher. Or will it just ruin the recipe. How do I raise the alcohol% of kits that I buy when brewing?

I have heard a lot about using oxyclean but has anyone that uses it had trouble with the slimy residue that oxy tends to leave behind?

Thanks for the input. Since It sounds like there is no real advantage to putting on the airlock at this point. I guess I'm going to leave the blowoff tube hooked up. Happy brewing!

Have my first batch of porter still in my Carboy from 2 weeks ago. I have been using a blowoff tube into a container of star san. The activity has slowed down quite a bit now. Can I leave the blowoff hooked up or do I need to switch to an airlock?
