Can You Brew It recipe for Green Flash West Coast IPA

I like this idea, as you can tell I am trying to avoid the racking!

    Keggle evaporation rate

Yes, bayou burner and in my garage with garage door open, little wind. Sounds like you have a pretty decent evaporation rate as well.

    Keggle evaporation rate

After about 10, 5 gallon batches in my converted 15 1/2 gallon keg setup I still seem to struggle with my evaporation rates during the boil being high. Some of this is leftover wort, hops, sediment (1/2 gallon or so) Yesterday I brewed a IPA with a 16.6lb grain bill. I started out with an...

Can You Brew It recipe for Green Flash West Coast IPA

Good point ElProducto! although one thing I noticed after moving to kegging is that my beers cleared up alot already, I suppose due to the temps of serving. I may just rack to a secondary, I am going to leave this in the primary at least 10 days and go from there.

Can You Brew It recipe for Green Flash West Coast IPA

I brewed this last night, we hit the Starting Gravity head on at 1.069. I am extremely happy with my brew day, all the process improvements (ball valve on hot liquor tank, ball valve on the marsh pump, using the pump to avoid most lifting and better whirl pool technique/timing before running...

    First Yeast Starter question

DeRoux, that is correct, that was what I was attempting to follow! It seems the starter White Labs recommends on their site is much smaller than Mr. Malty the way I read it. Does Mr. Malty assume you are decanting the liquid and just pitching the slurry? The size starter I have done I am...

    First Yeast Starter question

I have read a good bit on this but still am confused. I am brewing 2, 6 gallon batches of SG 1.069 IPA tomorrow. I purchased 2 WL WLP001 yeast vials, let them warm to 70 degrees slowly, mixed/made an 8 cups water with 1 cup of DME(boiled for 10 minutes, cooled to 70 and pitched the yeast). I...

Can You Brew It recipe for Green Flash West Coast IPA

Question on the dry hop piece... Skip the secondary and dry hop on the keg, Dry hop after 2 weeks in the primary or rack to a secondary and dry hop? Also, what temps are you guys letting this ferment at with the WLP001? How big of a yeast starter?

    Star San disaster...

I can relate, I had the star san sitting on the counter top and somehow it leaked and now I have a permanent stain/fade shape of the starsan container on my countertop! The concentrate was probably only there for a couple hours too! Was not real happy about that and lesson learned.

    Cocoa powder?

I made a milk stout extract kit and added 12oz unsweetened cocoa baking powder (believe that was the name) to my boil as well and the beer came out great. I also added 4oz of strawberry extract at bottling time.

I am excited, my blue moon tastes very close to the original, now I just need to wait for it to fully carbonate! I think the color is right on too.

    Brewer's Best Weizenbier

I am drinking the BB Weizenbier Kit right now, my first time kegg'ing. I brewed it on 2/12/11. It's tasting very good. It came with the 5.5% AA Mt. Hood Bittering Hops and 5.2% AA Mt. Hood Aroma Hops(at 5 minutes left). In December 2008 I brewed BB Full-Bodied WeizenBier and it came with...

    Brewer's Best Weizenbier

This is one of my favorite BB kits! At one time I did 2.5 gallon boils and the beer was great. I have also did full boils and followed the same instructions to a T still producing a great bier! what I did notice is that it had more bitterness but over months that calmed down. I would agree...
