Water quality here is great.
And I made the mistake of turning up the water pressure and also noticed the line was slightly twisted... I'm guessing maybe an oz leaked into the wort... Lesson learned.. will not do that again.
Brewed today and noticed that my immersion chiller was leaking into the brewpot with my Wort in it! I did soak the chiller in Star San before putting it into the wort...so should i be worried about contamination?
i suspect It wasnt dripping for too long because i was checking on it often....
Thanks Tim!
I brewed this last weekend and am just about to transfer to secondary. It smells delicious! Going to dry hop with centennial, amarillo and was thinking about citra... I did use centennial, amarillo and centennial in the boil..
Hey Tim... Im brewing this recipe tomorrow and unfortunately am unable to get simcoe... What Do you think would be a nice substitute centenniel or citra?
I've got two questions for all of those interested... Do you carb your beer @ 12-15psi and do you leave the co2 on the keg 24/7.. I know its kind of a dumb question but I just want to make sure!
Brewed an IPA and is now sitting in the kegerator... I'm finding pieces of hops floating in my first few pours and wondering I'd there are any recommendations on how to filter it out....
Using BrewSmith for the first time.
For a 14.88lb grain bill it says to use...
4.6 gallons of H20 @ 163 Degrees.... Steep @ 152 Degrees...
Then Sparge with 4.2 Gallons @168 Degrees...
Sounds right to you guys and gals?
Going to Brew my first IPA today!!!
:ban:
One last quick...
Here is the recipe. it was ed worts recipe for haus pale ale.
All grain recipe...
thermometer was consitently 153 even when stirring grains.
8 lbs. 2-Row Pale Malt
2 lbs. Vienna Malt
0.5 lb. Crystal 10L Malt
Apparent Attenuation: [(OG-FG)/(OG-1)] x 100
(1.045-1.005)/(1.045-1)...
Thanks for the input Yooper.
My mash temp was fairly consistent. Stayed right around 152-153...
My guess is I didn't get a good sparge? I used the 1.25qt h20 per lb of grains... Thought the crush went well... This was my first time brewing by myself and with new equipment... Perhaps I should be...
I was shooting for 1.055 or so. First time with my equipment.... Used 7.5 gallons total. Been in keg for 1.5 weeks.. I even dry hopped with 1oz cascade...
I just acquired a keg and want to convert it to a keggle... But not sure whether I should use weldless fittings as opposed to welding them.... Whats the difference?!
