yeast starter. short on dme. use priming sugar??

Have you used this as a starter before? Goya is apparently lightly hopped and has citric acid added; Does this affect the yeast growth in the starter? I would think it would probably work best for dark ales?

    Just some beginner questions

I'm just starting to look into making cheese. My question is this: Where is the best place to get the milk? I know that most store bought milk is too pasteurized to make good cheese, so where do you go? (I'm hoping that the Farmer's Market is not my only option as it isn't very convenient when I...

Black IPA or Anerican Black Ale?

Sorry, I just realized I didn't answer your question. When I submitted mine I put it under category 23 for specialty beer.

    Little Help For A Virgin

I would suggest using a blow-off tube rather than airlock. That way you won't have to worry about your clothes. As far as dry-hopping, I dry hop while racking to the secondary. Just be sure you sanitize everything and minimize the amount of time the lid is open to the elements.

    Hydrometer 101

The main benefit to racking to the secondary is to clarify your beer without all the trub at the bottom. The longer your beer sits on the trub the more off-flavors will be created. If you want to skip the secondary (and dry-hopping) that is always an option, but practicing good sanitation will...

    Multiple Yeast Additions?

I was wondering if anyone else had considered multiple yeast additions, and what the possible pros and cons might be. For example, I was wondering what, if any, would be the benefits to additional yeast added as racking to the secondary and/or before bottling. Obviously before bottling would be...

    Summit Hops: Onions and Weed

Sounds like a great beer with an added bonus to me. It's not surprising you'd have that aroma since the two plants are closely related. As for your yeast I'd say stick with what works for you, but the liquid is quite easy to work with though you'll have to be mindful of your yeast counts.
