Adding pumpkin puree to boil - do I need to filter before primary?

Thanks for the information. I use the BIAB method. I've heard of people stirring in the grains and then stirring in the puree and not having any trouble. When you say it will take hours to drain the mash bag, do you mean to squeeze out the last drops of wort from the bag? Admittedly, I'm fine...

Adding pumpkin puree to boil - do I need to filter before primary?

I'm making a pumpkin ale. I plan to add about 30 ounces of pumpkin puree to the mash and about 10 ounces to the boil. If I add puree to the boil, do I need to filter before transferring to the fermenter? Thanks!

Flavor additions: mash tun, boil or secondary

This is probably a stupid question, but to make the tea, what do you put the ground spices in that you steep?

Night Owl Clone (sort of) from a noob - how does this recipe look?

I am new to the homebrew world. I'll be using an Anvil Foundry (BIAB method). I'm trying to concoct a recipe that will produce a beer similar to the Elysian Night Owl. I like to be creative (at the risk of completely destroying the beer) so I didn't simply want to copy a clone recipe. I'm hoping...

    Elysian Night Owl Pumpkin Ale

From the Elysian website (Night Owl | Elysian Brewing) it looks like they use the following: Pale, Munich, CaraHell, C-20, C-45, and Special B But what percentages?

    Elysian Night Owl Pumpkin Ale

It's been a few years, so I thought I would check in to see if anyone has found a solid all-grain Elysian Night Owl clone.

    Pumpkin Ale with Kveik Yeast

I'm planning on brewing a pumpkin beer on September 13th. I'd love to have it ready to drink by early October. It seems to me that my only option is to use a Kveik yeast. I was thinking about maybe the Sigmund Kveik or Omega. Has anyone used Kveik for a pumpkin ale and had any luck? Or, is...

    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

I bought the Anvil Foundry 10.5 without the pump. I'm new to homebrewing and wondering what I need to do during the process to make up for the fact that I don't have the pump. Any recommendations?

Equipment list for Anvil Foundry + BIAB

I am new to brewing. I ordered an Anvil Foundry 10.5 and plan to use the brew in a bag (BIAB) method. I want to make sure I have all the equipment I need to brew my first 5 gallon batch before the Foundry arrives. Here is the list of things I think I need so far. Can anyone tell me if I need to...

Step-by-step for using BIAB method with an Anvil Foundry

Awesome. Thanks! I didn't realize John Palmer wrote the instructions. I'll take a look at them now before the unit arrives.

Step-by-step for using BIAB method with an Anvil Foundry

I am relatively new to the homebrew world. I bought an Anvil Foundry 10.5 and plan to use the brew in a bag (BIAB) method. I've never used the Foundry, nor have I ever used the BIAB method. I'm wondering if someone can point me in the direction of a step-by-step video, book, or blog post that...

Electric brew kettle recommendations for BIAB noob

Pulled the trigger on the Anvil Foundry. Thanks for all the advice! Looking forward to giving the BIAB a shot.

Electric brew kettle recommendations for BIAB noob

I've brewed some partial mashes on my stovetop, but want to make the leap to BIAB. I'm worried that my stovetop won't handle 5-gallon BIAB batches, so I'm looking to purchase an electric kettle. I don't have a dedicated 220V outlet at the moment, so I'm hoping to stick with 120V. It seems like...

BIAB - brew kettle and fermenter recommendations

Great point. I hadn't really thought about whether my stovetop can boil 7 gallons of wort without doing damage (I'm new to all-grain brewing, and still relatively new to partial-mash). I suppose this is one advantage of an electric brew kettle? I don't need portability. I'll probably brew in the...

BIAB - brew kettle and fermenter recommendations

I've decided to start brewing via the BIAB method (I did partial mash years ago). I plan on boiling on the stovetop and bottling. I plan on doing 5 gallon batches. I'm hoping to get some starter equipment recommendations. Ideally, I'd like to keep the cost of the brew kettle and fermenter at...

    Elysian Night Owl

My favorite pumpkin beer is the Elysian Night Owl. I would love to brew a clone and tweak it a bit. Does anyone have a partial-mash recipe? Cheers

    Adding Vanilla bean at bottling

Thanks for the advice. The beer is all ready to be bottled, so I guess I'm just trying to figure out a way to avoid having to wait another week or two to bottle while the vanilla rests in the secondary. But, I should probably just be patient.

    Adding Vanilla bean at bottling

I am brewing a milk stout and plan to add three vanilla beans (which will be boiled to reduce risk of contamination). My question is, do I have to let the beans sit in the secondary for a week to extract the flavor. Or, can I just put the beans in the secondary, stir it up for a minute and then...
