It seems to be one solid mass... he had it in the garage, maybe too moist and cold out there?

Pitching 1 pack of Notty for 8 gal batch

No. You need over 300billion cells. One pack is only maybe 200billion. You need 1.5 packs

Pitching 1 pack of Notty for 8 gal batch

I realize this and I'm not trying to correct you but it is generally assumed that the manufacturer states a very low number (to cover their @$$). Most places I looked assume 20 billion cells per gram of yeast. This seems to make sense or we all would be underpitching with 1 dry pack per 5...

    It's a secret ($300 CAD)

Pitching 1 pack of Notty for 8 gal batch

A 11gram pack of yeast apparently has 200 billion cells available is properly hydrated first. 1.5-2 packs should be adequate.

Pitching 1 pack of Notty for 8 gal batch

    Leaking Corny Keg post

No need to apologise. My problem appears fixed now. Now on to your.... QD= quick disconnect? I had difficulty like this once and found that I accidentally swapped the gas and liquid posts on the keg so was trying to to force a gas disconnect on/off a liquid post. Also see the post above...

2L starter and one WLP PurePitch pack will get you rolling providing your OG won't be really high and it is a 5g batch

    Is 3711/Belle Saison a Contaminant?

Yes it's called 'oxyclean', 'brush', 'starsan'. Glass and SS are not getting infected and plastic will be fine with good sanitation.

    Leaking Corny Keg post

Thanks for sharing that story! Couldn't you hear the gas escaping from the top? It is pretty audable when that puppy doesn't seat properly and it must have had a huge leak to lose #20 of gas!!!

    Don't Do That.

Well I think I probably owe both of you at least a few ounces each for being motivational

    Leaking Corny Keg post

Thanks for all the replies. I actually do have a bunch of different o-rings and thought I had replaced the post one but apparently not. I think I will replace the post after this keg kicks as well just to make everything uniform.
