    Help diagnose keg issue

I removed the post & the beer line was clogged with hops. After clearing the dip tube, I had to rinse out the poppet a few times. Once again, the kindness of those on the Homebrew Talk Forum helped problem solve a situation for me. Now i can enjoy my Peeper(ish) pale ale. Cheers [emoji482]

    Help diagnose keg issue

I didn't remove the posts from my last batch. I kept the keg intact, cleaned, sanitized & refilled. I will check with your suggestion in an hour or two. Once I get the kids in bed. These are ball locks, forgot to mention that.

    Help diagnose keg issue

New to kegging (4th 5 gallon batch): nothing coming out of the beer line. When I push on the beer poppet, nothing at all. When I push on the gas poppet, beer comes out. I tried to swap out picnic taps, but still no luck. There is CO2 in the tank, i cranked up the pressure for a couple hours...

New to kegging: leaking post? poppet?

Thanks for the replies. Tonight I'll start with a spray of Starsan. Once the kegs kicks, I'll will take the post off to inspect the parts.

New to kegging: leaking post? poppet?

I recently purchased 2 used kegs & both held pressure when purchased. I filled what I consider to be keg #2, put it on CO2 for a week & began enjoying the beer. Now I only have 1 picnic tap. After a week of consuming beer from keg #2, I decided to remove the tap to have a couple pints from...

    Recipe showcasing Amarillo hops

I appreciate all the responses. I saved a couple of the recipes for future brews. This weekend I am planning a Peeper clone from the Maine Brewing Company. As always, feedback from the folks at homebrew talk forum is very helpful. Cheers!

    Recipe showcasing Amarillo hops

The reason I mentioned those 2 Pale Ale recipes is bc I have brewed them both (using Cascades) with success. I appreciate the responses so far. Any other suggestions will be appreciated.

    Recipe showcasing Amarillo hops

I am going to brew in a couple weeks. I generally use traditional American hops (Cascades, Centennial, etc.) In my beers, but I recently bought a pound of Amarillo. As the subject line says, I am looking for a recipe to showcase Amarilo. With that being said, I prefer beers in the 4 to 5.5%...

Bottling sour beer blended with brown ale

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to think it over. I'll check back with any progress. I previously made a very similar sour that also finished at 1.006. I added raspberries in a secondary and the final product was very acidic & seems thin with not much body. my goal with this one is to...

Bottling sour beer blended with brown ale

I have a sour beer that's been in the carboy for 14 months. The Final Gravity of 1.006. I have an American brown ale that's been fermenting for three weeks. The estimated Final Gravity is 1.014. I am planning to blend 3.5 gallons of the brown with 1.5 gallons of the sour. I have only...

Big beers, blowoff tubes, ale pales, oh my...

I made the same "mistake" before. Recently, when I made a 14% barleywine, I aimed to end with 7 gallons of wort. I transferred 5 gallons into a 6 gallon better bottle & the rest into a 2 gallon gallon bucket. Obviously pitched yeast into both. After 72 hours, when it was time to remove the...

    Bottling IPA with dregs....?

Yes. That's what I did. Probably easier to drink flat, like you do, rather than bottle. It's only a couple pints, but I'm looking forward to the flavor impact from the dregs.

    Bottling IPA with dregs....?

Looking for suggestions: I was planning to bottle 5 gallons of west coast style I PA with a final gravity of 1.010. Due to a large amount of hop material in the carboy, I did a poor job of siphoning it and ended up bottling about 4.75 gallons. I cold crashed the leftover cloudy beer then...

    Deciding on a bourbon...

I brewed a 14% barleywine which calls for soaking oak cubes in bourbon, for one month, for the secondary. I haven't been a whiskey/bourbon drinker since college. Which was many year ago. Any ideas or suggestions? I am thinking any of the following: Jack Daniels, Jim Beam or Maker's Mark. Tim

Good beer to blend w thin Flanders Red?

I asked a very similar question recently. I was told that since it's been bottled, there's not much you can do. I blend it with different styles of beer in the glass to see what it goes well with. So far, it goes best with stouts & saison. Tim

    Albany/Burlington Beer Recommendations

I went to Burlington two weeks ago & I highly recommend Fiddlehead Brewery. They are in Shelburne, Vt. The IPA can be found on tap throughout Burlington. Very tasty.
