Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

No I definitely have too much heffe taste too to make it like Julius. Like I said though I think this is going to be a really good beer. Just not Julius.

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

I still have the juiciness. That's why everyone likes it but the belgey is there. I did cryo hops of 2 citra/1 mosaic/1 simcoe 3 times. Once at whirlpool. Then at day 5 and at day 10. Kegged at day 12. I am noticing this though. The first pour of the day has the most belgey taste. Must...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

I'm drinking a batch now 85% S04 and 7.5% each of the other two. It worked out to a whole 11.5 packet of 04 to what should have been 2.03 grams a piece of T58 and WB06. I don't think my scale is good enough to get an accurate gram measurement even though it's supposed to be accurate...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

So I just transferred the latest batch (s-04 85%/T-58 etc..) into the dry hop keg for 2nd dry hop. Gravity 1.014 from 1.072 OG. Citra/Mosaic/Simcoe cryohops 2:1:1 Getting a bit of that Belgian floral/clove taste. Not crazy about it. Hopefully the 2nd dryhop addition helps mask it.

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

Agreed. I think my stuff is pretty close to trillium when using 1318. Im hoping the latest batch with 04/ t58 etc isnt a wasted batch. I sèe a lot of anti 04 threads

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

I love Doppleganger. I should add that I like Green too but I live 5 minutes away from Trillium and their stuff is equal to Green IMO. I'm totally content with the stuff I brew on my own but to me Julius my target.

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

In my perfect scenario it would be discovered that all their beers but Julius. Haze, and Doppleganger are the cause of the toxins and they just decide to keep to those recipes. It's a bummer when I have free time to drive out there and they have Bright or Lights on or some other one I don't...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

Yeah I can't see that there would have been anything there. Who knows with those towns though. Maybe stuff was dumped there. On a route that was busy back in the day when companies didn't care.

MA doesnt allow PVC waste lines in commercial buildings.

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

Very possible. Old mill town. You don't know what was dumped there. Like the W.R. Grace lawsuit. I'm sure Grace was liable for much of the contamination in Woburn but there were many tanneries there in the 19th and 20th centuries that poisoned the soil

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

I was just thinking about this. What precautions they have to take as far as waste goes. Not just yeasts.spent grains and hops but cleaner and sanitizer etc.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I was at Treehouse yesterday. One of their offerings was Bright Nelson. It tasted like most of the Trilliums. I wonder if Trillium uses Nelson more than they reveal

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

So I'm noticing my S04/T58/WB06 yeast combo if left alone without temp control looks like it would easily heat up to 80 degrees at 64 room temp. I never noticed 1318 heating up that much. I'm keeping it below 75

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

I'm on day 2 and yeast is chugging away. Not as violent as 1318 but very active. 1318 always gets into my blowoff. I'm hoping you guys can save me some re-reading. What is the consensus on the timing of first dryhop? I usually do day 4. What is the consensus on temperature? I pitched at 64...

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

I did a whole packet of US04. From there figured the ratio of 85-8-5 to be 1.5 grams T58 and .5 WB06. My scale doesn't do half grams so I did the best I could. We'll see in two weeks

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

I'm brewing 5 gallons on Saturday. I usually use 1318 with a starter and stir plate but I have a packet each of s04/wb06/T-58 to try your ratio. If 1 packet is 11.5 grams how many grams total are you using? Is the viability date on dry yeast as important as liquid?

I use 1318 all the time and I've never had an issue. Are you checking the batch dates?

Isolated Yeast (Tree House): How to Identify and Characterize?

I always use citric as opposed to lactic acid to bring my mash down to the desired 5.2ish after my other adjustments. I'm very happy with the results but never get the TH bubblegum taste. Usually use 1318. Going to try the dry yeast mix for next Saturdays batch.

I used cryohops in my last batch and it was clear in two weeks. My pellet batches have never done this. I just did the same thing today. Shook it up.
