    Best Economical Element and Controller

I got my elements from Bobby and they are top quality, they are made well too. In fact after my last brew i was heating my kettle up to circ some PBW and then drained the entire kettle empty. Guess what my element was still on smoking up a storm. I shut it off, let it cool and then tested it to...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I think I did get some peach upfront before the tropical juice. This may be one of my best yet. It’s at 9.5 abv and I can not detect any boozy flavores. I am excited to see how this tastes out of the keg.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

This information is coming at the perfect time for my brew in the FV. I have a NEPA getting ready to finish. It was at 1012 yesterday and i raised the temp to 70*, and it should be at about 71-72* by tonight. On average my FG's only get two or three more gravity points lower from this point on...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

I will try this on my batch currently in my FV. Thanks for the breakdown, i am going to use this schedule on my next batch to compare it to what i am doing now, holding the temp at 65-68 the entire time. I was not aware of Acetaldehyde was producing that off flavor. A few people told me it...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

After peak ferment slows How long do you let it sit at 74/75 before you cool to 70-72. Is it based on gravity points or times?

    Temp control on conical /unitank

Looking at the video, i was thinking maybe a cheap way to heat you conical is wrapping heat tape around it. HEAT TAPE LINK- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B005FCFNSM/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 then if you plug in your heat tape and chilling jacket pump into a two way temp controller you should be...

eBIAB Mashing Temps with New PID Controller

I did not calibrate at mash temps. I took it from 70 to 100 deg checking every 10 deg’s and they were all right on. That’s a good idea to calibrate at the mash temp. I was not really keeping track of the difference between the two but I think it was around 8-10 degrees.

OOPS i left my element on

SO after a long brew day when cleaning my kettle out, I left my 1650 ULWD element on after all the water was completely drained out and it started smoking. So i let it cool off and tested it to see if it was fried for good. I only left it on a few minutes and it was heating water again. SO does...

How to keep Trub out of the fermenter

They seem pretty sweet, they also say that no whirlpool is necessary. This would cut some time out of your brew day. I am 80% ready to buy one just to try out. All i need to make sure is that i have 2" clearance between my heating element and the bottom of my kettle. I may be able to bend the...
