    Hefe is on!!!

This is the same problem I am having. I ended up with about 3 gallons or just under yesterday when I brewed my Hefe. :( I did not compensate enough and I even think that the whole hops really absorbed a lot of water. I'm hoping to get this right on my 3rd AG. -- Trev

best way to make a starter

Very good question. I was wondering the same thing myself. I have a feeling that just using a Briess Brewers' Gold will be sufficient in any batch. Correct me if I am wrong. Nice thread by the way! :) -- Trev

    Favre overload--COUNTDOWN TO 421

Thank GOD the Raiders traded Moss!! What a loser! I am not a Raiders fan BTW. I've been to every game when they've hosted the phins and get beat up. :) I wear my cap and fight them like a champ, I haven't had too much crap thrown at me I am a pretty big guy and have some big buddies that have...

What do you do for a living?

I used to work for AMAT in the Zero Reduction group, formerly CRG under Keith Hansen. I supported the Unix operations of the R&D group. Then went to work for Industrial Light and Magic, Lucas Digital (Star Wars, etc). Have now been at SGI (Silicon Graphics) for 8 years in engineering. I...

    Widmer Hefeweizen recipe

Sure thing! :) I'll be taking pictures and a quick video of the violent initial fermentation. :) If you're going to do a protein rest (step mash - decoction) you have to start by infusing to the Conversion Rest at 150-155F for 30-50 minutes. Then Pull 40% of mash (thinner) heat slowly to...

Water Stablization Problem (A Newbie Question)

Did you search the yellow pages for a local home brew supply? If not, morebeer.com is pretty good. I'm sure others will chime in with other sites that offer good deals. morebeer.com is good for hardware and extracts but if you are after AG then you might search around, google is your friend. :)...

    Starter, Dump It All In?

This is an interesting thread to me because I am preparing for a Hefe this weekend and was going to start my WLP320 starter around 48 hours before I pitch and would love to know what yeast you used Pol? I am planning on 1/4 lbs. of DME and WLP320 with a 1 litre flask. I'll start with a 1.040...

    bitter beers preference

I have friend that smokes like a stack and almost strictly drinks Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. The guy brings like a case or more on board his yacht when we are sailing or racing just to make sure he doesn't run out, and that is on top of all the other beer the crew bring to the boat for Wednesday...

    Widmer Hefeweizen recipe

Course I'll let everyone know how it turns out. This one I'll be taking pictures and probably video of the violent turbulence of the yeast taking action. I'll be doing a blow off with this one. My wife would kill me if there was beer spewed all over the closet down stairs. :cross: My Fat...

    Fat Tire clone (good)

For those that want to brew a pretty accurate Fat Tire brew. This is a Fat Tire clone I did and is pretty spot on! The grain bill is HUGE but man! Talk about flavor! :rockin: -------oOo------- Fat and Tired (I just called it this, not to confuse with the other Fat and Tired) A...

    Widmer Hefeweizen recipe

After reading around, I think it would be safe to drop down to .5 lbs. of munich. The rest, I think looks half way decent and hey, it shouldn't turn out that bad, this is beer we're talking about. All suggestions are welcome. Thanks, -- Trev

    Widmer Hefeweizen recipe
