    Long Trail Ale Clone Help

To be honest I can't remember. It was before I started using beer smith and it was 4 years ago. I do remember one of them was very tasty, just not quite right. I think getting an alt yeast is a must to get it close. I think the grain bill is pretty much there.

Can you Brew It recipe for Firestone Walker Union Jack

I have brewed this with 001 and it makes a great beer. If you really want the English profile go with s04 but I think the esters from that yeast really get in the way of the hops. Definitely ferment cool at like 64 with s04. I would also assume your attenuation won't be like 007 with s04.

    Pump wort without losing liquid

Ok then it will work. That's how I have mine configured. Batch sparging would negate the whole purpose of having a rims system, right?

    Mash now, boil later?

I have not done it but I wouldn't think a few hours is long enough to make it spoil.

    Pump wort without losing liquid

How are you going to sparge? You need one of those hoses to go from the hlt to the shower head while at the same time one goes from the mlt to the bk.

Pump inlet at the same height as your bulkhead?

    Should be fine.

    Pump wort without losing liquid

When I'm done pumping I just unhook the hoses and drain whatever is left into a container. If its on the hot side I put it into kettle b. if its cold side I just discard it. You don't lose a lot.

Can you Brew It recipe for Stone Arrogant Bastard

Do you do anything to your water? Sorry if this has been asked already. Burtonizing your water will increase the bitterness. I'm not saying you should do that but adding some salts may be worth a shot too.

    My Hops Garden Project

You can leave the bines and just take the hop cones. Cut the bines back in November when they turn brown.

Help - Keep missing my FG

You should also make sure your hydrometer is calibrated. Mine was off by .006 once.

Can you Brew It recipe for Firestone Walker Union Jack

Once you finish primary, throw your dry hops in (typically 5-10 days depending on your recipe-I usually go 7-10), after that is complete you should bottle. Three weeks in bottle to carbonate will give you roughly 5 weeks from brew day to drinking. Let it sit cold for another week and it will be...

Can you Brew It recipe for Firestone Walker Union Jack

I think your plan is a good one. Give the ipa 6 weeks and you will be drinking it in its prime!

    Dry hopping: Primary vs. secondary

Sounds like it will work! I can never seem to get all of the pellets away from the finished beer. This time around I dry hopped with a mix of pellets in a bag and whole cones floating. We'll see how it goes....

Can you Brew It recipe for Firestone Walker Union Jack

Brewed this version up on Saturday. I didn't have the caramunich so I threw in some munich 20 and pilsner....LHBS sucks and the choices were limited. I hate Crystal in IPAs so I wasn't disappointed that I went with something else. Recipe Specifications -------------------------- Boil...

Wow. Nice build. Someday when my kids are older I hope to have one as nice as that!

    Dry hopping: Primary vs. secondary

From How to Brew: Hops can also be added to the fermenter for increased hop aroma in the final beer. This is called "dry hopping" and is best done late in the fermentation cycle. If the hops are added to the fermenter while it is still actively bubbling, then a lot of the hop aroma will be...

    Dry hopping: Primary vs. secondary

This isn't a great idea because the co2 will drive off the aromatics of the hops. Not to mention hop oils will coat the yeast cell walls making it difficult for them to get things in/out of the cell. Just throw in the dry hops after fermentation has stopped.

    Lil' Sparky is tha Man!

I would like to know the results. I stopped using it because I thought utilization, especially with aroma additions went down because the wort isn't moving through that like it is when the hops are floating freely. What's the recipe you are going to use?

    3 corny mini fridge

Bringing this back from the dead....you can fit the co2 tank and three cornies inside but it is tight. I moved and the space the kegorator is located wouldn't let me put it on the outside.
