    First time All Grain questions

Sounds like you need a bigger brewing budget... don't we all. Great thread. I'm going AG for the first time in April, and this helped answer a few of my own questions. Brew on, brother.

Recipe Review: My first IIPA, a Flower Power clone

Alright, yes. I reworked my numbers on hopville here with 50% efficiency on the steep and 8# DME, with longer boil times. That aught to get me that second "I". Guess I need to brew 5 more gallons... oh darn.

Recipe Review: My first IIPA, a Flower Power clone

Thanks guys! Yeah, I got way off track on my gravities and IBU's... I don't quite know what happened. Here's the link to my hopville calculations: http://hopville.com/recipe/514266/imperial-ipa-recipes/flower-power-clone. Either way, like MW66 says, it's beer, and it's good! (And let me remind...

Recipe Review: My first IIPA, a Flower Power clone

Week 1: It's good! The aroma is strong on the pour, though it fades halfway through the glass. The taste, while it needs aging and blending, is hoppy, sweeter than I might like, but definitely an IPA. @Oldstock: the OG and FG were hydrometer readings compensated for temp. The math I got on...

Recipe Review: My first IIPA, a Flower Power clone

Wow, no one cares huh? :( Just kidding. So here's the update so far, for those who love hops: Brewday looked like this: Brought friends over, ordered pizza. Turned on burner at 4:30pm Steeped 2# honey malt and 1# crystal malt for 30 min at 158 degrees. Added 6# Briess Pilsen...

    Locking off a Tap

Just chiming in, I live with a 3 year old (room mate's son) and before I had a live keg in my fridge, she walked into the living room and saw him, mouth under the tap, hand on the handle shouting "Look ma'! I'm drinking!" :cross: I thought a while about building in a locking dowel across the...

The stupidest comment on your beer

OH, I almost forgot about this one: Long time mentor and friend: It's been a while, you should come for a visit. Me: Can do. And I can bring some home brewed stout, too. Trust me it tastes better. Him: Is it safe to drink?

The stupidest comment on your beer

My best friend of 16 years: "Your homebrew doesn't taste like homebrew". (meant as a compliment) ...? I'm sorry for his past experience with homebrew.

Is this better or worse than Craigtube?

I'll put my two cents in in defense of Craig and CraigTube. He's a dude who loves to brew beer and share his entusiasm for doing so with the world. Anyone anywhere can find information, share information, and teach someone the basics and advanced tactics of brewing, but it takes someone...

    How do YOU store bottles?

EXACTLY what I was looking for! (Okay, not exactly, but better!)

    How do YOU store bottles?

Has anybody ever seen or heard of anyone making reusable plastic 6-pack containers? I'm imagining something made of plastic that folds flat like a regular cardboard sixer, but one that would stand up to being wet during bottling, then be easy to wash and reuse batch to batch.

    I LOVE Kegconnection

I love 'em. I ordered a single keg kit for my keg fridge, and they're currently putting together all the pieces for an add on keg. Great service, great product, can't rave enough.

    Show us your Kegerator

Here's mine. It's a cheapo 3/4 sized fridge from craigslist and a package from kegconnection. I've got the second tap/keg set on order. Currently there's a Brewer's Best Irish Stout in there, and a really simple Saaz hop pale ale is going in Keg 2 when it arrives. I love this toy! And...
