It needs water all they way up until the heads start to ripen or the kernels will shrivel and/or the plant will abort the late kernels. You likely have enough ground water now, but don't think you can just stop watering and it will ripen quicker. I wouldn't let it run out of water until you see...

How to go about creating a product from scratch?

You could crop pictures off of the drawing I make and use them in the patent application. If you look at patents the drawing are done in a rather specific way. Every patent relevant part needs to be pointed out and described. You could attempt on your own or retain a patent lawyer. They have...

How to go about creating a product from scratch?

I am a mechanical engineer. If it isn't to involved I'll create CAD drawings for a few beers. You can use the drawings to get quotes from manufacturers.

Looks great. I believe you will see the flowers. Been awhile since we raised barley, but flowers are very evident in wheat. I bet you will see them soon.

    Help With OG

I put your 7lbs LME and 3lbs DME with 5.25 gallon of total volume into beersmith and got an OG of 1.073 which is close enough to the 1.075 in your recipe. As long as you didn't get any extra sugar anywhere and your volume was close to 5.25 your true wort OG was correct. Insufficient mixing was...

    Help With OG

Your boil shouldn't make a difference. If you boil for an hour or all day you will still have the same amount of sugar(extract) in the pot. When you topped it up to 5.25 gallon you dilute the sugars to what should be the correct gravity. Extract gravity should always be on as long as the...

    keg carbonation

Higher temp requires higher pressure to get the same carbonation. Pick the volumes of CO2 you want then set the pressure and temp according to a carbonation chart. http://www.kegerators.com/carbonation-table.php

Looks great. This is a neat stage. The field goes from a uneven ragged looking crop to a nice full fields of barley heads.

    Does temp effect carbonation?

Hate to ask, but did you add priming sugar? What temp are you keeping the bottles at?

    Rogue Maple Bacon ale

mdeck04, hope I didn't discourage your effort. Wish I could help you track one down. The beer was fun to try. But if you don't get a bottle have some peace of mind knowing that I doubt you would have finished the bottle without 10 friends to help.

    Malting Barley

Do a search. There are lots of guys on HBT who have done home malting. This is the most extensive I have seen: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/happiness-home-malting-107409/ If it is worth it is up to you. I doubt you will save much money, but few in homebrewing save money. It is about...

    Water in Beer, Contaminated?

Odds are you will be fine. The water from ones tap is largely clean. Pitch a lot of healthy yeast and they will overpower what ever small about of bugs may have gotten in the wort. No batch of beer is ever 100% free of contamination.

    Rogue Maple Bacon ale

I don't have access to the beer now, but tried it on a trip to Seattle last fall. My two cousins and I couldn't finish the bottle. We all agreed it would be great to cook with, but was just to much to drink more then a few sips.

FERM chamber build - have a question

    2) Food dehydrator works good if you have room. Low heat and a built in fan. Also thought about a hair dryer or air popper. 3) Thermowell works great, but you can also just tape the probe to the side of your carboy with some bubble wrap or foam covering the probe.

Humm. 5 minutes. wonder what kind of root growth you have. You obviously have a much different climate and soil then we do. If I did lots of short watering the top 6in would be damp and it would be bone dry from there down. Barley roots will reach 4ft or more if water is present in the deep...

You could try AMS, but it takes time to be available to the plant. A liquid N would be better, but you can't spray much on the leaves or you can burn the plants. We do what is called streambarring. The N is put out in streams of liquid. This way only a little gets on the plants, most hits the...

I'm not surprised you don't have a perfect square. The problem could be a combination of things. Maybe lack of N and too wet. Maybe soil variations. Maybe a herd of deer took a crap. What is your irrigation rate. As long as your soil holds water (not sand) then you only really need about 4...
