I made a cream ale on the 19th and I checked on it today and it smells like straight liquor. I did my readings and it started at 43 and is now at a 5 on my barometer..... Whats up?

I Inherited a kegorator, and some co2 equipment. The co2 tank is still full but I know its been sitting in a basement for at least 20 years. Is this co2 safe to use for force carbonating my Corney kegs?
