Still making bad beer after 30+ batches.

Almost all of my recipes are from here. I've seen many people brew and watch me brew. I'm as thorough and anal as the rest of them, if not more so. No one has been able to give me any feedback as to where the taste is from.

Still making bad beer after 30+ batches.

Is there a place where I can send off a couple bottles and have them tell me what's wrong with my beer? I've made 30+ all-grain batches now and almost everyone of them has been barely drinkable. I have yet to make a beer that I would pay money for. I'm done trying to troubleshoot as I've...

    Mash pH predictions

Sorry to bump and old post, but thought I'd share... I just found this to be true myself. Yesterday I used EZ Water to determine that I needed 3.5 oz of acidulated malt to bring my mash PH down to 5.4. When I checked my OG at the end, I missed my OG by .13 (1.065-1.053)! I've never missed...

American Pale Ale Three Floyds Zombie Dust Clone

Has anyone built a water profile for this with R.O. water? I'm using R.O. for the first time and need a ballpark number for salt additions. Thanks!

    Northern English Brown Ale

I have made 3 batches of the most popular brown ale(Nut Brown AG) under "English Brown Ale" in the recipe page . All 3 batches had the exact same after taste. I've tried using tap water, spring water and distilled water(with salts) and none of these made a difference. I've also tried force...

    Problems with Nottingham?

For me, it's an alcohol/slightly metallic/band-aid type taste on the back-end. I can't accurately describe what the taste is, but it's always on the back-end. I even took it to my LHBS and he couldn't exactly pinpoint the taste. I don't seem to have this back-end taste with any other type...

    Problems with Nottingham?

I definitely believe this is the case with me. I've ruled out almost everything that I do on brew day. I believe in my case it is temperature. There is no way I can say Nottingham is terrible when there are literally thousands of people that use it successfully. When I do use it again, I'll...

    Problems with Nottingham?

This thread is like a breath of fresh air! I've made roughly 20 all-grain batches so far. Nearly half of them have been borderline terrible, I usually just give it away. I spent months of troubleshooting and was about to give up completely. I went back and reviewed all of my batches; sure as...

    Bad taste only after kegging?

Thanks for the reply. I usually go through a couple of kegs before I rinse out my lines. I sanitize the keg every time, just not the lines. I like the idea of bypassing the lines and tap and trying it right from the keg itself. This will at least cut most of the potential problems out of the...

    Bad taste only after kegging?

I have made 15-20 AG batches so far. For some reason, after I chiil it in the fridge and add CO2 to it, I always get an "alcohol" taste to it. The beer does NOT have this taste when I transfer to the keg. This seems to happen to any style beer. I have two typical corny kegs that I sanitize...
