    My Christmas Morning 2X IPA

Have you used this grain bill before. I looks like way too much crystal to me; I would only go with 1/2 or 3/4 lb C-40. Also why the flaked Wheat? I use 1/2 lb wheat malt in IPAs and APAs to give me some massive head retention, and I have found 1/2 lb enough to do the job. 70 IBUs is not a...

    DIY breaking the law

This guy has to be a troll. Look at his name and I think it is the same guy who started that retarded $8 bush beer thread. What a jack ass.

    Stone in Dallas

Any good liquor store should have a good selection of Stone stuff. Or a Central market. They usually have Stone IPA and Arrogant Bastard at the 7-Eleven down the street from me, over here in Ft Worth.

    New recipe - dumb idea?

I don't think you are going to get the flavor out of it that you are looking for. I'm not a huge fan of Simcoe and Hefes don't do well with late hops. What yeast are you using? Most of the flavor and aromatics come from the hefe yeast, so late and dry hopping would make it a little muddled.

    o-ring in keg

Same thing just happened to me while kegging up a Saison last week. I just grabbed a spare and sanitized it real fast. I think It was the Saison? We'll see soon enough.

    floating dip tube?

Look closer, they have just the floating tip with out the hose at all. How were you planing on building one? what material and design?

    floating dip tube?

Just looked at the web site and they sell the float alone in the accessory section. I have seen these before and always thought it as a good idea.

    floating dip tube?

Get an extra "gas in" tube and just use 1/4" silicone that will slip on tight over the post, no clamp needed. The hard part is going to be figuring out the float end so that it doesn't suck air.

how to build a drip tube for a converted keg

I used a compression fitting and some SS tubing and a tubing bender. If you have to tools it is very cheap. Find a hose house that builds Hydraulic assemblies (like the one I work for, Stuart Hose & Pipe)and they will take care of you. We just opened a location in Houston, don't know how far...

Beer in a Bag + Engine.

Looks very cool. I'm looking forward to seeing how this progresses. That pump looks like a cost cutting yet viable alternative to a real engine. You know you will have to incorporate a removable sparkler on to the faucet.;)

    beer in fort worth, tx

If you are downtown go to the T&P Tavern. It is in the old train station on the south side of downtown. They have a good selection of beers and the owner is a member of my homebrew club. I also like the Gingerman and it is only a short trip from downtown just on the west side. I don't care for...

Typical efficiency for 10 gal round cooler + false bottom

You could switch to a double batch sparge or fly-sparge. 70% is not bad if it is consistent. If you are able to get the same efficiency each time then your are good to go. Use another pound of grain if you need to. I would not want my efficiency to go higher than 85%. I have the same set up...

Going about things backwards, at least from a ball lock/pin lock perspective.

I was under the impression that many of the kegs were scraped and many more were sent to Asia to be used to serve soda as they were intended. Either way I know that ball locks have more value in the homebrew market. You would have to spend at least $15 (each keg) for the new posts to convert...
