Score 1 for ME! Russian Imperial Stout

So I'm sure we've all had the scenario where someone tastes a beer and say yours is better. Just yesterday I xfrd my Imperial stout from a primary fermenter to a secondary to bulk condition for 5-8 months. Of course I pulled some out to taste and it was already tasting pretty delicious. My...

    storage temp

Personally, I don't care for the higher temps. I like the 60-65 range much better. I've had better results. If the beer is carbed up, it really shouldn't matter though.

My Imperial Stout label and printing options

So i decided to design this 7x3 for an imperial stout that im currently fermenting. I know there are several places i can order blank labels, but is there anywhere I can have custom 7x3 labels printed? Ive checked everywhere! Any critiques on the label?

This doesnt look like an infection...but...

Looks ok to me but without looking at it personally, it's hard to tell. I've never head an infection (KNOCK ON WOOD) and there's been many screw ups on my part. At least from my experience, you have to really F UP to get an infection.

I'm a noob who does everything wrong

Exactly, remember beer is very resilient. A recipe is a suggested method. Sometimes screwing with it whether be on purpose or on accident will still (for the most part) turn out to be great. Remember, you made it!

Final Gravity: Am I close enough?

Let it sit The best tip for any home brewer is PATIENCE! After the first 2-3 batches you'll learn that just letting it do its thing is the best thing you can do. I've had a few batches that seemed to stall and then pick back up.

    First Broken Hydrometer

Finally decided to brew a cider for SWMBO. Used a tweaked recipe of the Caramel Apple Hard Cider going around on the forum. ITs around the 2 week barrier and decided to take a gravity reading to see if it was ready to bottle. Well i always take a glass with me to taste what I pull out with...

    5 Day cider? No way...

Wow! I have no freaking idea! The only thing that would even come to mind, and again it could be completely false, is the fact that it was fresh squeezed cider. Is it possible that there were nutrients and other things the yeast fed off of because it was fresh? It's a bird, no its a plane, no...

    Fermenting away!

My first beer from Midwest supplies (amber ale) had an off flavor I believe was from high fermentation temps. 2 others since have turned out very well since I have kept an eye on them. If the test tube is for the...

How long for signs of fermentation?

Well I'm not really sure if the liquid is.. I made a son of fermentation chiller, so the box has been sitting at 65 for the whole 10 days now. I'm pretty sure the liquid is 65 if not very close.

How long for signs of fermentation?

Update: Almost 10 days in and I've had a pretty steady temp at 65 degrees. Just checked gravity and there was 2-3 inches of krausen. The gravity is sitting at 1.021, so just a little longer to go. My question (if someone is still reading this) being the initial signs of fermentation are...
