    Fruit flies in kegerator faucet!!!

Excellent tip, thank you! I figured something like that had to exist. I just wish I could figure out where they were coming from. With a four year old running around the house I'm guessing there's a year old banana or PBJ sandwich tucked away somewhere never to be found.

    Fruit flies in kegerator faucet!!!

Just poured myself a pint from our brand new kegerator, and looked down to see these buggers having a little party. It wasn't even my first pour this evening. I don't mind sharing my beer, but come on! They were definitely inside the faucet. Anyone else have this problem? If so, what did...

Does anyone have an opinion on Kegco kegerators?

We just got our Kegco K209SS-2 about 2 weeks ago, and so far it's been great. I immediately swapped out the 5' lines for 10', and the pours are beautiful. I highly recommend upgrading to the stainless tower with perlick faucets. Ours doesn't have the digital temp control, and I can't say I...

Blonde Ale Centennial Blonde (Simple 4% All Grain, 5 & 10 Gall)

Another happy CB customer. Made the recipe exactly as is for our 2nd all grain batch using BIAB. We wanted to bring some homebrew with us on vacation so we brewed with enough time to do 2 weeks primary and 2 weeks in the bottle. Couldn't be happier. The malt and hop character really balances...

    Farty Smell in Secondary

I think it's pretty normal to drive off some sulfur compounds during fermentation. I caught a flatulatious whiff from the airlock of my 4 day centennial blonde today. It's no worse then what I deal with from my wife every night so I'm not worried.

American IPA 5 Hoppiness Wheat IPA

Would you please clarify the "7 day swirl, 14 day rest" note in Secondary Fermentation? Also, I noticed that there is no dry hop. Have you previously tried it and didn't like the result? I'm very intrigued by this recipe, and the idea of a wheat IPA in general. Thanks for sharing.

    Star San top-off snafu

I was listening to an old Basic Brewing podcast where he interviewed the owner/developer of Star San, and a guy wrote in with a story where he forgot to drain the Star San out of his conical fermenter before transferring the chilled wort. From what I remember, the guy said that it probably...

    Dry Hop..Does this look okay?

I'm bottling a gumballhead clone tonight that has been dry hopping for about 10 days. Looked just like this for the first 5 then it started to settle. I cold crashed for a day and between that and the little bit of jostling while moving it to the fridge, almost all of the hops settled out...

    greetings from Kuwait

Welcome to the forum, ilan, and thank you for your service. Stay safe. That post was packed full of rather obscure music references, if I'm not mistaken.

    Why use Carapils/Dextrine with BIAB?

I think for the next BIAB I'm going to try a thicker mash and see what that gets me. For this first one, I mashed in a 5 gal beverage cooler (on sale at Menards for $10 :) ) and it was filled to the brim, including 12 lbs of grain. I believe the mash thickness worked out to be about 1.5...

    Why use Carapils/Dextrine with BIAB?

I'm very curious to hear some responses. I had never heard of this phenomenon, but it would explain why our first BIAB ended up with an FG much lower than expected. It was a gumballhead clone, and FG was supposed to be about 1.012. Ours ended up at 1.006. The mash started at 153 and only...

American Wheat Beer Gumballhead inspired WPA

We made this one 2 weeks ago. It was our first all-grain batch using BIAB. I can't remember if the recipe came from this thread, but the one I used called for 6 lbs white wheat, 5 lbs 2 row, and 1 lb caravienne. My dyslexia kicked in and I actually had 5 lbs of white wheat and 6 lbs of 2 row...

    Where are you at INDIANA

First post from Carmel. The wife and I just started brewing this year. 4 batches so far. Oatmeal milk stout, pale ale, GF brown, and just brewed our first BIAB AG batch last weekend for Nat'l HB Day (Gumballhead clone). We're both Boilermakers and our first intro to craft brew was Lafayette...
