    Men who sit to pee

In my own home, sit down every time. Everywhere else, stand. No shame in it at all. Anyone who says they don't is usually lying, haha

    Homebrew Associations in MD

I live in Canton and there are a few clubs around. They meet at odd times that I usually can't make. I'd be more interested in a brewing buddy more than anything else. At least until I have time to join a club.

New Danstar Belle Saison Dry Yeast?

Just cooked up a saison today and pitched this yeast. The rumors are true: it's a beast! Krausen and bubbling away within an hour of pitching! Very excited to see how it all turns out!

    Scaleblaster Tankless Water Softener

I wanted to know if anyone has had any experience brewing with tap water and a Scaleblaster tankless water softener. I have one just as the water main enters my house and it works wonders! No more lime scale on my shower doors, shower heads and faucets throughout the house. Water feels...

    Peach Saison Critique (Extract)

I'm really wanting to do a Saison this summer and I just love peaches so I'm thinking this is going to be pretty good. I'm very new to brewing so please don't hold back if something doesn't look right. OG 1.065 FG 1.013 ABV 6.7% IBU 24.59 Steep I'd like to steep something here but...

    Saison Shipwrecked Saison

I don't want to derail the whole thread and go too much off topic but I'm a bit confused here. I understand that LMEs and DMEs are typically made of a combination of malts. What I've read about converting all-grain to extract is that its based on efficiency. I've read a bunch of articles but...

    Saison Shipwrecked Saison

@IslandLizard I have a 10gal pot that I do full boil 5gal batches with. I've steeped on occasion. I use a 6gal glass carboy for fermentation. For the yeast, I've heard good things about the Belle Saison so I was definitely going to use it. I don't have a fermentation chamber and I haven't...

Keg conditioning while I'm on a ship

Okay, done! Wife cranked it up to 30 PSI, fingers crossed!

Keg conditioning while I'm on a ship

Okay, I got it. Unfortunately, I'm thousands of miles from that keg right now. I can't ask my pregnant wife to lift the keg into the kegerator so I'll just have to wait and see what happens when I get home. It'll carb at 21 PSI for a month. When I get home I'll pop it in the kegerator and...

    Saison Shipwrecked Saison

Okay, I've read through all the posts here and I'm excited about this recipe! But, I'm a mere extract brewer; still very new to the hobby. Using some online conversions, I think I came up with an extract version. Grains: 6.7 lbs Pilsner LME 2.0 lbs Wheat DME 8 oz Vienna Malt (Steep)...

Keg conditioning while I'm on a ship

Update... Kegged last week and put it on 21 PSI CO2 at room temperature. I've been gone a week. If it sits for another 3 weeks at 21 PSI, will it over carb? Should I have my wife shut the gas off in another week?

Keg conditioning while I'm on a ship

Is there any benefit to conditioning at room temp. v in my kegerator? When I bottle I usually leave at room temp for two weeks to a month. Also, are there benefits to conditioning in the keg with no carbonation at all?

Keg conditioning while I'm on a ship

I know there are a ton of threads on keg conditioning but I wanted to get specific so here goes... I work on a ship and leave for a month at a time. I'm about to keg (1st timer here!) a hefeweizen in a couple of days. My plan was to put CO2 to the keg at serving pressure (10-12PSI) and go to...

    Favorite summer beer recipes

I just brewed a hefe for mid-summer and I'm already thinking about the next brew. Looking for ideas for another summer beer. Something clean, unlike my hefe, and crisp. Preferably with a higher ABV, say 6-7%. Any thoughts? Or have a favorite summer time brew? I'm an extract brewer and...

First time brewing without a kit

That came as a recommendation from the guy at my LHBS. I just said okay and went with it, haha The bucket next to the carboy is filled with a star san solution. Was worried Saturday night when I didn't see anything (I know that doesn't mean anything) but was pleasantly surprised Sunday morning!

First time brewing without a kit

I finally graduated from Mr. Beer kits! Brewed this on Saturday! Yeast is hard at work. It will be a honey hefeweizen when it's done...I hope! I'm completely paranoid that my sanitation wasn't up to par. And I find myself checking the carboy every few hours. I never thought I'd get so much...
