    Help me understand carbonation...

I am getting mixed results with my beers as far as carbonation goes. I do not really understand what is making them come out different. I was hoping someone could help me. I am bottling and using the same process. I use a heaping 3/4 cup of corn sugar dissolved in a cup of hot water. I...

    How fast can you brew?

How much off should your lid be? I usually leave mine askew a little, depending where I am at with volumes. Because I am brewing outside I am afraid that a leaf or spider is going to drop in there.

    How fast can you brew?

This is something my friend and I have been talking about - brewing at the same time. I would like to find a couple of brewers in the area and then meet up and brew on the same day... crank up the barbecue and kind of make a party of it.

This is what I was looking for. Can you elaborate on this? And maybe explain it like you were talking to a 5 year old?

    How fast can you brew?

I hate cleanup as well. I have been experimenting with being less anal about sanitation. ...gasp... I know. Don't tell anyone. But I think hot water and soap go a long ways in my opinion. I suppose I will keep thinking that until I ruin a batch of beer. *keeps fingers crossed*

    How fast can you brew?

Hey beer gurus! I was thinking about the length of my brew time the other day and was wondering what I could do to make it shorter. I did some internet searching and found that I wall already doing pretty well with my BIAB by getting done usually in 3.5 to 4 hours. But I started thinking...

help me make this beer better

Good point. I'm so new at this, I am not sure if it is maltiness that I am perceiving. I will try to explain further.... When you first drink the beer there is a 'sharp' flavor at the beginning. It reminds me a little bit of the sharpness that you would get with a red wine, but not the same...

    Amber Ale recipe help

Thanks Chicky! I took your advice and brewed it up yesterday. Its in the pantry bubbling away, but I had some questions. I am still new to this and was wondering what the driving force is behind the suggestions. Is splitting up the crystal just to add complexity? And what does the...
