Brewstand build down to the nitty gritty

I'm not to far from you. I stopped down to get 2 sightglassess a while ago. We talked a bit and you were kinda steering me away from a direct fire set-up. And then recently I ordered 2 ball valves cause the price was right. Once I get this going and have some more free time I want to come down...

Brewstand build down to the nitty gritty

I may go to 2 pumps at somepoint in time but as for right now I'm trying to get a brew done soon so that is out for now. I do plan on insulating the MLT I have to send it to the welder to get a coupler for the thermo put in. What are you guys chilling with IC's, plate chillers, or counterflow...

Brewstand build down to the nitty gritty

So a quick overview. I've been brewing for a little over a year now and the beer has been coming out good so it was time for the next step. I started with 5 gallon batches full boils and moved to PM's with coolers, then some weak AG batches and I'm hooked. It was soon proved that 5 gallons...

    banjo burner

I bought 2 of them and couldn't be happier. I also went with the bayou classic 0-30 psi regulator and it seems to be working well

Keezer access issues. Need some creative ideas

You could try disconnects on the outside of the keezer with some small casters and slide it out when you want to change and back in for use

    Diffusion Stone Sanitation/Storage

I clean it off good then just cover the stone in tin foil to stop the oils and such from getting on it. Clean and starsan when I'm ready to use. A side note I have the one from Williams brewing with the SS wand so I think its easier to keep clean than plastic tubing.

Burner Height? And How fast do you boil?

The whole sculpture sounded very easy at first then at every step there is a million options. I just want to make this setup as efficient as possible maybe even electric/propane hybrid as I have an extra keg with some fittings on it. I think some sort of windscreen will help me get a little...

Burner Height? And How fast do you boil?

So I just tacked up one of my Banjo burners and did a little test run with my keggle. The burner at the moment is 3" under the stand. It seems like I have good flame but I have only my old crappy turkey fryer and this. They are both propane but the similarities end there. I believe I have the HP...

Yet another never ending RIMS build with ???'s

So I've started building a single tier brewstand after brewing a little less than a year ago. I've got a few PM and AG batches under my belt and want to have more and better beer so here I am. I have the frame built for my sculpture and now have a bunch of questions. The plan for the sculpture...

    Gas Plumbing for Single Tier

SORRY TO HIJACK I'm at this point too, single tier two burners but my biggest question is 1/2" pipe big enough for two hurricane burners and a little control I want to buy fittings as a bunch of other stuff will be coming in soon?

Extreme Beer Fest, Boston MA, BeerAdvocate

Great beers both nights. The night of the barrels is awesome. And the first session on saturday usually has some leftovers from friday. Should be heading there with at least 4-5 people.

    Squam Lakes Brewery with Pictures

I just read through the whole thread everything looks fantastic. One little thing to add if you don't want to use the sink maybe you could put some of the controls in it with and hide some wires almost like a big junction box, just a thought. Everything looks great and it seems no matter how...

The good, the bad, and the ugly of my first High Gravity beer

I've had good luck using a piece of tubing over a barb inside my cooler MLT. Then slide the braid over that and it hold on like chinese fingercuffs. Never had a problem with it falling off and also don't have to worry about anything rusting. Brewdays can be worse but it always makes beer and...

    Qusetion about Dregs??

I'm in the process of making my first sour. It seems like fermentation has slowed down and I'm going to transfer it to the secondary where it's gonna sit forever. I pitched the batch using roselare and I wanted to use some dregs from Rodenbach Gran Cru. How do I go about doing it? Do I just...

    When to move to secondary?

So I brewed my first sour last weekend 9/12/09. All went well it was my second all grain batch and I got 73% efficiency with precrushed grains that sat for a little while so I'm happy. I pitched roselare and it took a 2 days for fermentation to even start a little bit. Fermentation was slow but...
