    BeerSmith ABV%

Also if on the top you have extract selected instead of all grain it treats the grain as if you were just steeping it. This makes all the calculations off by alot. Also make sure you fill out the SG and FG like others have mentioned

    building my wort chiller

I was about 15-20 minutes with the 25' of 3/8" Definately move the chiller around in the BK. If you leave it there you can feel the chiller has cold water in and out after a while. Once you start moving it around you'll feel the output get nice and hot then you know its working

    What type of tubing

silicone from bargainfittings for me and it doesn't seem to get to soft under high temps and I like being able to see the wort traveling around. I also like that I can use some zip ties to keep it on the barbs and it doesn't chew up the tubing at all. The expensive stuff turns out to be not much...

    building my wort chiller

I use a homemade 50' of 1/2" copper and it chills my 10 gallon batches to pitching temps in 25 minutes. I was chilling 5 gallon batches with a 25' 3/8" IC and it was fine to get my temps down but it took a little longer than my current chiller. Did you check out BobbyM's tutorial on how to make...

RIMS build complete now I have questions

So a little backround I'm still relatively new to brewing (1 1/2 years or so) and I got the bug bad. Started with 5 gallon batches and they never lasted long enough. Gathered more stuff and started partial mash and AG brewing. Then it was time to go bigger so now I have a single tier RIMS setup...

Nothing on the output side of my SSR????

Worked like a charm. Makes me see that I need a little more separation between my element and my thermocoupler. Time to finish the wort chiller and keep my fingers crossed

Nothing on the output side of my SSR????

It makes me feel dumb after actually seeing it as it should be out in front of me. I guess I strayed from the KISS method and went straight to my mind racing like crazy. I'm heading home to rewire and see what happens. It also makes sense to me now what exactly the SSR does and that's real...

Nothing on the output side of my SSR????

That makes sense now. I'm going to try and run home during lunch and rewire the inside. I was hoping to get this thing working for a birthday brew tomorow. And you were right ClaudiusB I meant I was getting the 6.5 volts on the input side and nothing on the output side of the SSR. I'll keep it...

Nothing on the output side of my SSR????

Here's what I have so far. I also have an outlet that the pump is run through on the same switch setup and that's it for now

Nothing on the output side of my SSR????

I'm struggling through paint right now

Nothing on the output side of my SSR????

I'm trying to finish up my RIMS brewery and I'm running into problems getting the element to fire up on my RIMS tube. I'm running it off a Auber SYL-2362 PID. I get 6.5v DC coming from the PID to the SSR and no matter what setting it's on I can't get any power at the output side of the pid. Even...

I need to see the light...but I need wiring help

I'm sooooooo close to finishing my build and I'm down to wiring switches and I'm going crazy trying to get the switches I have to light up when the send power. I can get them to work but without the light. I've been going nuts searching and can't find a good pic. I'm a very visual person so here...

    Flase bottom kit for keg

It's not a whole kit but check out the vendor section and get a false bottom from Jaybird and a diptube from bargainfittings. It's not going to be 65 probably more like 100 but you gotta pay to play sometimes

    Help a Electical Idiot

I'm probably going to go the route Walker did with something thats rated for 20 amps. The RIMS element I'm using is a low density 120v 1500 watt element from www.plumbingsupply.com I have a 20 amp dedicated ckt in the garage which I will be using for this thing. As for the draw I will be running...
