Keggle owners--how did you reuse your sanke spear?

I'm in the process of putting it in a 5" filter housing to make a randall it seems to fit the bill well so far

    Batch Sparging Poll

No mashout and I do 2 sparges generally the same size. I don't want to miss out on any sugars by doing it only once. I have no real basis to say that 2 is better than 1 but brewing is full of myths and whatnot. Try different things and see what works best for you and your system.

    Wet Grain

Sump pump took a crap and the basement got water. I agree with everything posted but I was trying to be optimistic. Thanks for confirming what i already was thinking

    RIMS PID/SSR/heatsink/wiring enclosure

Here's mine not as elaborate as some but it works very well. I'm running a RIMS system and I have a plug connecting the RIMS tube to the control panel. I hope to be able to unplug the RIMS tube and make a heat stick that I can manually power the heatstick to help with my propane usage anyway...

    Wet Grain

So my basement flooded and one bag of grain got wet. It's not totaly soaked but a good majority of it is wet. The blue bag inside was partially open so it didn't save much. What are my options? As of now I'm going to separate the dry stuff from the wet stuff. Is the wet stuff a goner or should I...

Why do my hoses keep slipping off my check valve?

Thats odd when I got my stuff from kegconnection it came assembled with oetiker style clamps attached at the check valve and worm clamps on the disconnects. I think he even advertises that the killy come fully assembled.

    Beersmith problem!

make sure your beer type is the right one. If you are doing all grain and you have extract in the type everything will be treated as steeping grains. Hope that helps

    Grain mill comparison

I can only speak from what I know so here it goes. I went straight to the Monster mill MM-3. I also opted for the hoppper and base. The mill really is a monster. The only real issues I've had are 1. The bolts that hold the gap just have to be barely tight otherwise the mill won't turn correctly...

Didn't leave enough headspace what to do???

search for a "blowoff tube" that will keep you from haveing to clean it out regularly. When it settles down a bit put the airlock back in and you are good to go

    Beer ready in 1 month?

Also try to keep it a lower ABV beer that always helps with trying to drink beers when they are younger. They take less time to condition to a decent drinkable beer.

    Batch sparge?

Mash thickness just refers to how much water you are going to use per 1 lb of grain. It usually is somewhere between 1.25 qts(thick) and 2.0 qts(thin). And just remember all these tools are just guidelines until you find out what works best for you and your system

    Silicon Tubing from Bargain Fittings

Its been covered pretty well so far. The tubing is great and it stays nice a plyable but not like a wet noodle. I use a zip tie to hold it on the barb it works great and doesn't mark up the tubing at all.

    I have $800 and I am a noob

Also just came across this https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f11/did-i-just-score-194927/ seems like a great deal and you could have a very flexible mashtun for very cheap

    Batch sparge?

I do the same thing I try to use beersmith as a starting point. Every system is different. I mash a little "thin" due to a decent amount of dead space in my system. Its a keggle based RIMS system and there is some loss due to my false bottom and wort that is almost always in the RIMS tube and...

    Batch sparge?

As with anything there are different ways to do everything. I'll give you my process and I'm sure others will chime in soon. I don't mashout I don't feel its necessary with with batch sparging. I pull out my first runnings after recirculating transfer it to the boil kettle and start heating it...

    I have $800 and I am a noob

I kind of agree with this a 10 gallon kettle is a good starting point it will give you good flexability later. It's very good for 5-7 gallon batches now and would be perfect when you upgrade to use as a HLT. I'm running a single tier sytem with 3 kegs and have yet to have a need for 12 gallons +...

South Jersey/Philly Group Buy... ROUND 7!

I'm still amazed at how quick this thing filled up. I just got my grain from Ferman from #6 and this buy had bags fillin up left and right. I bought a bunch of grain cause I didn't want to miss out. Little did I know that lordura is an animal and would be filling pallets weekly lol These buys...

Bubbles coming out of airlock lid????

It is coming out the top of the "S" type airlock. I got them from vintner's circle and they have little holes in the top similar to the 3 piece ones. That was one heck of a fermentation on that beer. That pic was only like 1.5 hours after pitching and before I went to bed there was a blowoff...
