I feel like I hit the Lottery

I still have a ton a research to do, but are there any heating elements that don't run on 220v. I only have a 100 amp service in my house and I don't think I can dedicate another 220 outlet due to all the other crap I have running. Right now I'm just working on the virgin kegs because for the...

I feel like I hit the Lottery

I'm not hating I'd love to use heating elements if they work good. How long does it take to get and keep a rolling boil with 12 gallons of wort? I'm searching so many things right now that some of the info is getting lost in the mix. I know most of the elements use 1 inch npt threads and they...

He made it certain that all the fittings are stainless. I don't have alot of info on the stuff because I talked to the guy for about 2 minutes. He lives next to my good friends parents so I'm twice removed from the situation. My friend let me know that he works at a VOTECH and thats where he got...

I feel like I hit the Lottery

Everything is threaded mostly with half couplers. I'm really confused as to what I can do with the bungs on the bottom. When I was first looking for kegs I was hoping to direct fire the mashtun. I can explore using heating elements but I don't want to wait forever to get it to a boil. Another...

I feel like I hit the Lottery

To be honest I have no idea what system would be best. The fittings are in wierd spots. They are all 1 inch and the welds and everything are solid. Another note is that 2 with all the fittings on them have the tops cut off as well. I would like to go in the direction that allows me to use these...

Good beers to ferment at high temperature?

x1000 if you like belgians yeast flavor they will be great at that temp. As posted before a Saison would be great and probably still ready before it gets cold if that's a problem

1/2 Liter Plastic Bottles vs. 22oz Glass Pop Tops

plastic<glass I don't think the fod grade fermenters impart anything different to the beer, but I do think it make a difference. I also think the containers used for fermenting are better quality thus leaving no side effects. This all being said I have a mindset that glass is better but I still...

Should you bring yeast to room temp?

A starter basically gives you a better chance of having the correct amount of yeast to properly eat the sugar in the wort. You may be OK using no stater if your beer is under 1.040(maybe) A good tool to use is Mr Malty and check the pitching calculator it will tell you what you need either using...

    Funky Starter

I'm not worried that my beer is going to be ruined just caught by surprise a little when I saw a little flec on the side if the flask, then a hour later or so the brown gunk started. I don't think I burnt the sugar but anything is possible. I did use a different pot to boil my starter and it...

    Funky Starter

I'm not so worried about infection or anything like that(fingers crossed) I made a starter this morning with 3/4 cup of wheat DME, WLP410, and a little over a liter of water. I've had some krausen before but this one is kinda funky. I don't know where this dark color is coming from and was...

    Woo Hoo I've got blowoff!

I had what I hope to be one of my last extract batches to do so I went ahead on a beautiful day and brewed it up. Everything seem to go very well. I piched a decanted starter of dark DME and White Labs abbey ale yeast(wlp530). At around 3 pm I pitched the yeast aerated and put it in its new...
