Heat wave! Let's brew a saison!

Any suggestions on how long to leave in the primary/ how long in the secondary? I usually just wait until the brew hits its FG but I feel the yeast needs some time to do its magic :D

Heat wave! Let's brew a saison!

Simple is exactly what I was shooting for. How long would you recommend to keep it fermenting in the 60s?

    Tropical Fruit Beer Recipe Idea

I added 3 pounds of chopped up whole mango to the secondary for one beer. It tasted nice and fruity but I don't think you would ever know that mango was put in it. So what I'm saying is if I did a mango beer again I would definitely use more.

Accidentally froze yeast, thinking about still using it in a low gravity beer

So I wasn't thinking and threw a packet of Wyeast 1332 Northwest Ale into my freezer. It sat there over night and froze solid. I took it out, thawed it, and smacked the pack. It inflated a little bit but I don't trust it completely. Rather than toss it I'm thinking about just using it for a...

I was scolded at LHBS today when I told em I don't usually use a secondary

Just wanted to say that this happened to me too. I went to a shop to get another carboy to ferment in when I was JUST starting out (getting ready for my 2nd or 3rd batch). The guy at the counter was shocked and appalled that I didn't secondary! He said that I would make WAY better beer one...

5 lbs sounds like it would do the trick. I've only added fruit in the secondary and have had pretty good results so I can't give any personal advice on adding to the boil. I'm not sure if going through the primary fermentation would get rid of the strawberry flavors...

How many strawberries are you thinking about adding? I feel like you'd need to add a lot to get any noticeable flavor.

Old Can of Muntons Old Ale LME

Ok so I have a can of this stuff that I forgot about and it has been sitting around for probably at least 6 months. I'd hate to see it go to waste, but is it even worth it to use? Would I only end up with some stale-tasting beer?

How to brew Pilsener without correct ingredients

Well if you do want more alcohol, more dextrose is the way to go. But either way that recipe sounds about right.
