Should I need triple decoction for my Bohemian pilsner?

Made a Czech Pale Lager for a club competition recently, never having made this style before, and decided to try what I will call Decoction Light. I pulled twice from the grist during the Brewzilla mash, using a 1-cup ladle and getting about 3 cups total, placing in a common pot and...

Why do amber/brown ales always taste like metal?

I made an English Porter that after a 8-ish weeks in the keg developed a distinct, metallic aftertaste for me. My wife and daughter did not get it, but to me it almost made the beer undrinkable. It had a couple pounds of Brown malt in it, which was a first use for me, and I wondered if it was...

Did Northern Brewer Purchase Austin Homebrew AND/OR Adventures in Brewing?

I use Brew Your Own Brew almost exclusively as well--fantastic Tucson shop worthy of support. Anything not on their website is usually just a phone call away, and their customer service is superb.

Corny Keg Corny 5G Cooler Giveaway

I’ve belong to a sailplane flying club in Southern Arizona. They kiddingly refer to themselves as a drinking club with a flying habit (but they never mix the two!). I really enjoy bringing them homebrew, but I think they enjoy the free beer most of all!

SS brew tech grain mill review

Which motorized mill would you chose, if you were buying?

SS brew tech grain mill review

What was the final resolution on this? In the end, do you think the mill is worth the $$$'s?

    Lutra Kveik and Dark Beers

I have found that despite the low, 68F rating for Lutra by Omega, it stalls out or slows down tremendously at anything below ~78F. Seems to be happiest in the high 80s, low 90s.

AIO Sparge vs. No Sparge...is there a qualitative difference?

This is exactly the kind of discussion I was hoping to have. Thank you for posting this, excellent information.

AIO Sparge vs. No Sparge...is there a qualitative difference?

Question: Is there a real, Quality difference between sparging and no sparging? Are plenty of no-sparge examples winning at competitions? Or, is this purely an efficiency and/or brewing tradition issue? Been brewing eBIAB and now AIO for about three years, after decades of three vessel cooler...

    Brewzilla Gen4 Discussion/Tips Talk

In a recent video, Kegland commented how on the generation 4 models the pump was stronger than generation 3. So using your March pump sound certainly possible, especially if you switch the plumbing to the side drain valve. But, you just may not need it.

Overnight or Long Step Mash and effects on body

Makes me curious about making a very dry style like a Brut IPA (where you want little to no body and a super low FG) using an overnight mash. Anyone ever tried that before?

    Beermkr

Follow up: I elected to change the Peltier cooling system myself, took about 30 minutes and it is now working perfectly. Brewing a Witbier MKRKIT already. Excellent customer service and responsiveness. Thank you, BEERMKR!

    Beermkr

My 10-month old BEERMKR cooling system just failed. It is being replaced under warranty, but bummed that it happened, and there seem to be more than a few cooling system failures listed on the BEERMKR Facebook group. Beginning to wonder how reliable a Peltier cooling system is in this use case.

    Yeast Nutrients Recommendations Please?

I think nutrients are more critical for extract brewers, as all-grain builds some yeast nutrients as a part of the process. As an all-grain brewer, I still use yeast nutrients on every batch as cheap insurance for complete & healthy fermentations. I have used Servomyces and WLN1000, and both...

It is a bit pricey, but has anyone used or bought the new SS Brewtech motorized mill?

Curious if anyone that has used the new "Altus" hop would describe it as dank? Anyone used Altus?

    Brewzilla Gen4 Discussion/Tips Talk

My tea maker is used mainly for tea and not cheap. However, this kettle with temp adjustment would work just as well and only $59.

    Brewzilla Gen4 Discussion/Tips Talk

I also moved from a three-vessel system, to self made eBIAB RIMS, to the Brewzilla 65L 3.1.1. By far, the one that is easiest to setup, use and clean is the Brewzilla. Been using it for about 2 batches a month for about the last 18 months. Really like my 3.1.1 Brewzilla, and the Gen 4 addresses...

    New Belgium 1554 Recipe

Just put it in the keg about 2 weeks ago, and that's lagering in my keezer. Samples at kegging were very tasty, but more roasty and less Munich-y (malty sweet?) than actual 1554. Don't know if that will change with lagering, but I doubt it. Time will tell, but I think that a ver2.0 will be...

Juicy West Coast IPA with Omega Yeast OYL-404 Party Star

Very interested in how this turns out with Star Party--thank you for sharing. I am about to use Cosmic Punch for the first time this weekend, but my next WC IPA will use Star Party.
