Another Basement Brewery Build - Sorin Brewing

Brief update... I was able to get some more work in this weekend. The sink plumbing is complete and the duct vent hood with a Vortex 6in fan is constructed and installed. Things are coming together. More details to come...

Another Basement Brewery Build - Sorin Brewing

It's been almost 2 years since I put together my small footprint eBIAB setup for use in my city condo (see link below for build), but we've now had our second kid, bought a new house, and moved. After tackling life and a bunch of projects around the house, its time to get back into the groove...

Metzen's Mini Fridge Glycol Chiller Conversion

I just cold crashed to 39 F last week on a 6 gallon batch. I have two 7 gallon fermenters (SSBT unitank and SSBT bucket) that I’ve controlled at the same time. You can only crash one of them at a time - maybe lager two at a time. But overall it still works great. Good luck with the build...

Metzen's Mini Fridge Glycol Chiller Conversion

I havent sealed the reservoir but also havent experienced any issues with excessive condensation. I have had some condensation just from the temp swings and the frost on the fittings inside the fridge melting. However, I usually give the inside of the fridge a quick wipe with a paper towel...

Metzen's Mini Fridge Glycol Chiller Conversion

I have no doubt that this can keep a batch at ale fermentation temps at that ambient temp. You may struggle to keep at lagering or crash chilling temps, but ale fermentation temps won’t be an issue.

    Beersmith 3 ph tool

Agree. BS3 does well with the mineral additions. It’s just aggravating that I can’t get the acid addition sorted and have to spend all the extra time in BW for that one number.

    Beersmith 3 ph tool

You’re not missing anything. It is generally observed that BS commonly overestimates the acid required to achieve a specific PH. Brad references a paper for his model stating that BnW does not account for acid density, but real world application seems to favor BnW (certainly in all of my brews...

Metzen's Mini Fridge Glycol Chiller Conversion

It was attached to the freezer coil by a metal clip. I just left it clipped as is, but it doesn’t go into the glycol solution where it’s positioned.

Stay with BIAB... Or move on to "Regular" all grain brewing?

As @Transamguy77 pointed out, the key decision for me would be natch size. If you want to go larger, then it makes sense to move to 3V. I reduced my equipment footprint (notice I didn’t say downgraded) from a 3 vessel to BIAB and won’t look back. I may add a second small vessel just for added...
