White Labs English Ale yeast floculating in flask on stir plate.

Imperial pub did the exact same thing for me, I looked at it about 24 hours in and it looked creamy/haze like a normal starter. 1 hour later, looked again, clearish-wort with chunks spinning around. Crazy stuff.

    Spunding Valve

Kegland sells a pressure gauge specifically intended to be used with DuoTight fittings: https://www.williamsbrewing.com/DuoTight-0-40-PSI-Pressure-Gauge-P4687.aspx EDIT: This is for 8mm, not 9.5mm fittings didn't notice that in previous post

pH meter storage solution drying out and turning white?

Same here, I hate those little caps - this is 100x easier and works much better.

    Fast Souring - Modern Methods

This one was solely brewed for the wife - concessions were made :-)

    Fast Souring - Modern Methods

Yes-ish on the Low Oxygen process. Full bore on the cold side. Hot side was capped mash, preboiled strike, etc, but a little less trifecta than usual and no cap during cooling. As strange as this sounds, the wife doesn't like beer that tastes "beery"- i.e., malty. So, I was trying to target...

    Fast Souring - Modern Methods

First co-fermented sour (Swanson's & US-05) is ready. Hibiscus & Passionfruit puree - super tasty. It's not quite a sour/tart as we'd like, but we'll settle that on the next go around. I used a little too much lactic acid at knockout, and I think the Hibiscus itself drops the pH some, so it got...

No more RO water, what to use now

Just for fun, here's the 2018 Lansing MI (hopefully that's the right Lansing) water quality report: https://www.lbwl.com/sites/default/files/inline-files/2018 BWL Water Quality Report_2.pdf I lived in East Lansing for 6 years, so was curious :)

Spunding, thought I nailed the timing, but...

Keep in mind too that when you transfer to spund, you're getting rid of a lot of yeast. It's the "stragglers" that haven't flocculated out yet that are finishing the job for you, and if they're not very healthy and ready to keep going, it can take a few days. One step in diagnosing if there's...

Please recommend a digital scale for measuring salts

FWIW, for those of you that don't have calibration weights, New/clean U.S. pennies and dimes work well to ballpark things within .1 gram or so. If you have a few, you could average the measurements and do even better. Pennies weigh ~2.5 grams, dimes weigh ~2.27 grams...

Do any styles lend to this water profile?

I would think it would state them being reported as CaCO3 if it was the case.

Do any styles lend to this water profile?

Are your Calcium, Magnesium, Bicarbonate, and Carbonate numbers reported "as CaCO3" by any chance? Plugging the mg/L values specified into Bru'n water suggests a very unbalanced cation/anion ratio, but converting them from "as CaCO3" (assuming that's the case) resolves it. That would also...

    Reverse Osmosis System Recommendation Please

No automatic shut off valve since I'm not going into a storage container. I suppose it would be nice, but with how I'm using it I don't see the need. I didn't get the flush valve either - although to be honest I don't remember why.

    Reverse Osmosis System Recommendation Please

I use this one in 75 gpd: https://www.buckeyehydro.com/premium-ro-systems/ Good quality systems and the owner posts here frequently to help folks out with water and RO-system-related questions. I use it pretty much exactly the way you've described. It's got a hose bib to connect to a...

Yet more evidence that commercial brewers do not mash at 5.2 to 5.6 pH ...

Gordon rescinded his statement on pH measurement temp, FYI: https://www.homebrewersassociation.org/forum/index.php?topic=17065.msg218442#msg218442

    Distilled or RO

Me too - my Starsan stays clear for months when mixed with RO water like this. In contrast, it goes cloudy within a few days with our tap water.

    Fan for Keezer

I use cheap DC case fans with old cell phone chargers/wall worts to power them.

    infection or just leftover krausen?

Looks like yeast/Krausen remnants to me

No distilled water available & I want to brew

Preboiling isn't going to do much to lower sodium or chloride is it? But, it'll drop the Calcium down to really low levels as there's not much there to start with. I'd probably just use the water as is and brew the NEIPA recipe. Na is a little high, but not ridiculous, especially with...

    CO2

Some of the larger gas exchange outfits (think Airgas, Praxair sorts of joints) will exchange/swap tanks regardless of hydrotest status. It's another option if you're not attached to your specific tank.

    Force Carbonating Question

The pressure changes with temp, but not the volumes of carbonation - so you'll be fine. For your health!
