IPA tastes just like a Belgium Beer, Yuck

I had been in the keg for about 45 days and it was still the same. :( So I poured it out. If you like Belgian IPAs you would have loved this one!

IPA tastes just like a Belgium Beer, Yuck

I used and English Ale yeast from the LHBS same yeast as before. This was a DFH 60 min clone and it called for temp at 71 and then let it rise to 74 to clean up the diacetyl. I know it was way warmer than that for a while. So if you ferment in the low 60s how do you prevent diacetyl?

IPA tastes just like a Belgium Beer, Yuck

Ok not to offend Belgium beer drinkers but I brewed an IPA that I have made before. The last time it was awesome! 5 gallons gone in 90 minutes at an office party. I made the same batch again and it tastes like a Belgium beer. I know that it got a little warm during fermentation, aroun 76-78...

    Fermentation Chamber Temp Control

I have a small little cubby about the size of a chest freezer under my stairs. I insulated it with fire retardant insulation and put a little electric heater on a thermostat. To keep it at 68 it runs about 30 seconds twice an hour. :-) Best 20 bucks I ever spent.

Star San made bottles slippery what will this do to the beer?

Hello all, I have been tring to find a sanitizer I like. I have used bleach, Iodine-bsaed, b-brite and now I tried Star San to clean my bottles for a 90 min IPA I just bottled. I added 1 oz to my bottleing bucket and rinsed all bottles and hoses in there. I then let all equipment dry on my...

Hello all, I am bottling a batch of beer for a friend for his birthday. I want to bottle tomorrow night but I don't want to waste time washing bottles. Can I was the bottles tonight and hang them on the bottle tree and bottle with them tomorrow night without rewashing? Thank you! Tom

    Added dry hops to early?

So I am making a DFH 90min IPA that I have made before. I had it in my fermentation box for about 8 days and it looked like it was done so I moved it into my secondary and added the dry hops. Today 7 days later, I went to bottle it and I see I still have active feremtation. About 1/2 inch of...

Barley Crusher vs. Monster Malt Mill

I looked at the crankandstien and here is the problem with that, I am not mechanically inclined unless it is a computer, router or firewall you need fixed I can handle it. However building the components around a crankandstien forget it. :-)

Barley Crusher vs. Monster Malt Mill

Awesome. I think I am going to go with the barley crusher as I want to use it right out of the box. I don't want to have to build a hopper or anything like that. Thanks all! After using it for a year or 2 I can take it apart to clean. I have to clean everything else right? Why not my miller as...

Barley Crusher vs. Monster Malt Mill

Everyone, I am going to buy my own grain miller and I am stuck between the Barley Crusher and the Monster Malt miller. I am leaning in the direction of the barley crusher because it has a larger hopper and it is about 30 bucks cheaper. I already have a drill so that is not a concern. Any...

Kegging for the 1st time....for my wedding

I naturally carb all of my kegs. For a pale ale I usally set it around 70 but 68 should be fine. My last one was a DFH 60 min clone. It carbed for 2 weeks naturally and was gone in 90 minutes at the office party. You will need very little CO2 to push it as the natural carbonation will push a...
