Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

I am assuming the effluent is the exiting water, right? It is cold. Steam only escapes the edges of the lid right after I open and close back up, but only a tiny amount, and after 5 minutes there is zero steam escaping the lid. I assumed it was just collecting on the walls and falling back in...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

I just set up my new condenser from Craft Hardware, mounted to the kettle lid. Ran a test run with water, seemed to be working properly, but I checked the volume after an hour, and it doesn't look like I lost any water to boil off. I'm worried the steam isn't escaping properly. I'm new to boil...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

I had the same issue on Stretch, and after a clean install of Buster, Fermentrack sees it right away. I had sort of confirmed it was the Pi having the issue, not Fermentrack, by testing with Tilt Pi installed. My Pi couldn't see it in that app either until the new install of Buster.

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

I'll check on the sudo systemctl restart bluetooth later, I unplugged the controllers earlier and forgot to plug back in. I checked the /usr/bin/btuart file to change the baud rate, and I see the following. I just want to make sure I'm reading it right. #!/bin/sh...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Here's what I got from systemctl status bluetooth bluetooth.service - Bluetooth service Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/bluetooth.service; enabled; vendor preset Active: active (running) since Wed 2020-02-05 10:04:13 EST; 24h ago Docs: man:bluetoothd(8) Main PID: 534...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

This is more of a general RPi3 issue, but it is affecting my BrewPi controllers staying connected to Fermentrack. I have my Arduino based controllers connected via RPi internal bluetooth to HC-05 modules on the controllers. I notice that periodically, after days of normal connection, the...

Easy & Cheap Stainless Vent Hood

Is your brew space in a fairly cold environment? I'm in an uninsulated garage, so condensation is going to be accelerated. I'm guessing flexible or not, it will just be an issue I have to deal with.

Easy & Cheap Stainless Vent Hood

has anyone had issues with using flexible ducting vs. rigid as far as condensation collecting in the ribs?

    Positive Pressure To Avoid Suckback

I have a Spike Unitank - they mention in the cold crashing process write up that to avoid suck back from the blowoff tube, they recommend adding about 5 psi to the tank, as the positive pressure will prevent the vacuum from forming during temp reduction. To add pressure, you have to take off the...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

I believe it was working with other sites. I was also checking via VNC viewer so at least that connection was being made out of the network. My VNC connection keeps going down, and I can only assume the Pi is freezing, as I have to manually reboot to get it back online. Maybe it needs a wipe and...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Hope y’all can help with my latest roadblock! I had set up Fermentrack on my Pi while on Stretch, and I just upgraded to Buster. I am getting a 502 Bad Gateway when pulling up the dashboard. I also updated to Python 3, and I was reading in another thread...

Raspberry Pi cannot see Tilt Hydrometer

I have a Raspberry Pi 3 B+, running Stretch. Two arduino fermentation controllers are currently paired to the Pi's internal bluetooth, all using Fermentrack to control and track. Bluetooth on the Pi is functioning well, as the controllers are talking to the Pi solely via Bluetooth. My Tilt...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Yup, connection type is Bluetooth, made sure the right color was selected, and I moved my Pi right up against the conical. Tilt seems to be on and active, as it appears in the iPhone app. Bluetooth is definitely working on the Pi, as my controllers are running solely on bluetooth.

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Is there anything special I need to do on my Pi to get Fermentrack to see my Tilt hydrometer? I've added my Tilt into my dashboard, but no readings yet. My Pi has bluetooth, currently paired to my Arduino controller. I had to manually pair it to the Pi to get Fermentrack to see it properly, do I...

Fermentrack: Fermentation monitoring & BrewPi-www Replacement for Raspberry Pi

Hey y'all, built a second controller based on the @CadiBrewer shield, and having a weird issue with the rotary encoder. Pressing the knob successfully wakes the LCD display and highlights separate fields to change values (i.e. Control Mode, temp value, etc.) However, when the knob is turned in...

    Rust Spots On Stainless Kettles

that all makes sense, but I still wonder why this is an issue for me now, when my precious stainless equipment has air dried with Star san for years of brewing. Maybe the temperature is really the issue? It has been down to 40 degrees recently. Not much I can do about that part, as it is I...

    Rust Spots On Stainless Kettles

A little background: I've set up shop in a detached garage, no heating, fairly uninsulated, so it gets pretty cold. Spike Brewing 15 gallon system, E-HERMS, lots of stainless components. I have water running from the garden hose (drinking water safe hose) into the brew space, running into a 10...
