    Low efficiency problem

Yeah, you'll get a few more brews in and before long will have your technique perfected.

    Low efficiency problem

Should work as well. I mentioned stirring afterwards to redistribute the grains. I used to be adamant about them making a bed, for filtering, and so on but really no longer think hat matters. And if it does I've still normally left things along for 10-15 minutes between the last lift / lower /...

    Low efficiency problem

Yes but it pours into the inner part of the basket. The outside is still not mixed in. Thus the lift & lower technique. Alternately put a round grill thing in the bottom and use a bag, skipping the pipe altogether...

    Electric System Build Hardware

What pump are you using? My cheap Northern Brewer / Midwest pump (my LHBS at the time they still had their stores in town) is wildly noisy even with extra washers in it. I figured they were all that way.

    Low efficiency problem

In the Anvil Foundry world, "we" have a lift and lower thing. A couple times while mashing (2 or 3 over the hour) it's advisable to lift the basket, allow all that water on the side of the basket to mix in, and then lower the basket again afterward of course. It's fine to stir the grain in the...

    Keg purging with active fermentation

@doug293cz that makes sense, the time factor, and that reversing my setup could be better. I was thinking things were quicker, but perhaps not. I'll go switch it.

    Keg purging with active fermentation

I wondered about that, but then there's the whole "there's no such thing as a CXO2 blanket, it all mixes" which I believe in, and so I leaned towards it not mattering. Especially when we are talking a trickle of incoming CO2 taking several full days, at least. I feel like any existing O2 and...

    Keg purging with active fermentation

I finally started using the fermentation gasses to purge my kegs, after following this thread. This will be my 3rd brew doing so, the last 2 seem to have worked wonderfully. @Bobby_M (BrewHardware) made the tubing. He welded some 1/2" SS tubing to Female Flare adapters in such a way that the...

    cold soak overnight

It will. I still like waking up to it and mashing in before coffee, but yeah you're on the right track.

    cold soak overnight

I certainly understand the convenience desire. I get my Anvil set up the night before, water, timer, all of it. I wake up to hot water. I mash in shortly after getting up, and then go make coffee, do family things, have some breakfast, etc. while it mashes. The 5 minutes or so it takes to add...

    Stuck fermentation or just normal?

Yes, definitely, especially starting at 1.084. It sounds like it's simply done. An hour at 154+ is totally fine, but slightly on the higher side of temperatures, and would be expected to end in a slightly higher gravity as well. There's basically no chance you'd taste the difference if you'd...

    Pressure limit of mason jars?

The AI bot that bumped this would have ignored it.

May need to change the extension to a jpeg or something else the forum is designed for. After folks download it they would need to change it back.

Where to get PFAS with your beer

If you want to know more about PFA's, oddly timed is a video from what I consider to be a pretty good science-y channel on it:

Where to get PFAS with your beer

Ugh. Off the top, it's probably breweries closest to any DuPont or possibly 3M plants. Map doesn't seem to jive but would have been my guess. We've all got some in us, question is only how much.

Been extract brewing for a year now and want to step into BIAB - Would this kit be a good starter to begin learning how the BIAB process works?

Plus 2 yeast packs! (For a new brewer, using dry, I'd just do 2, but you could split one in half I guess - either way don't forget the yeast)

You can brew anything, anywhere, but I'd consider using the Anvil for the 5 gallon all-grain move. I think you'd want to be a more experienced brewer to try and switch your current method to all grain and simultaneously keep 5 gallons (agreed it'd work for 2.5 to 3 easily, maybe more, but why...

    IS MY FERMENTATION STUCK?

I wondered about that but haven't ever pressure fermented. I thought folks pressurized right away? Or do they let it get started and then do it? Seems to be a big thing in general (pressure fermenting) so I didn't want to suggest against it. Someone who uses the method would have to say (perhaps...
