    Temperture controllers

Could you use the STC1000 with some of the Remote prob I've seen people here talk? So you could put the prob inside the fermenter to get the accurate reading of the beer temp?

    Mash Tun

Is 1GAL of dead space a lot? How can it hurt your efficiency? Or it's not that bad because when you sparge at the end the water that is in the deadspace doesn't contain that much sugar?

    Briess Bavarian boil time.

Not sure how much IBU this will add since I don't know your recipe :) But I highly suggest you to put your recipe in a software that help you calculate IBU since it might not be what you think since you add LME late boil.

    Briess Bavarian boil time.

You dont need to boil the lme for 60 minutes. You can put 1/3 of the lme at the begining and add the rest 15 minute before flame out. Some even add it at flame out but i prefer to make sure everything is sterile. Doing so you will make sure that lme wont caramelize too much during the boil...

    Any styles you've regretted brewing?

No you're not alone! I'd push it a little bit further saying I haven't find yet an alcohol that I don't like. My parent travel a lot and I always request them to bring back some local stuff and I tasted pretty weirdo stuff :). The only beer I cannot really drink are the "light" stuff. Coors...

Most inexpensive vendor for Canadians? also need simple recipe.

I live in Canada/Quebec, and I'm lucky I live close to a huge HBS; Moût International. (http://www.biereetvin.com/pdf/liste-de-prix.pdf) (Sorry it's in french, but most of the names are english names.) Their price are awesome. I often compare them with other store and very rarely they are...

Going to visit NY. Looking for brewerie/pub

So me and my gf are going to visit NY in 2 weeks (We live in Canada/Quebec). We will rest in Time Square on the 46th close to the 7th. As a beer fan (duh) I'd like to visit local breweries/pub that serve their own beer. If they make good food also, that's even better :). I'm looking for...

Carbonation in my beer seems low.

I sure will do that! In the meantime does anyone know if FG affect the carbonation feeling in the beer? Other than maybe make it longer to carb?

Carbonation in my beer seems low.

oh really? Those I tasted at 3.5 weeks have been in the fridge for less than 5 hours. Just enough to get them cold to drink.

Hops fell on floor before dryhopping

My glass carboy plug fell in my beer before racking. The top was exposed to air (my non finished basement room) for 2 weeks. It remained in the beer for the time I finish racking it, which mean 15 minutes +. Never saw or tasted any infections :).

Carbonation in my beer seems low.

It was stored for 3.5 week at 68 or so. Yes maybe I'm used to overcarbed beer. But I get the feeling that once I poured my beer, it gets flat really quick. Maybe it's because overcarbed beer feel less flat after the same amount of time because they are higher in carbonation volume. Might all...

Carbonation in my beer seems low.

Was my first batch. OG was around 1.045 FG 1.014 Bottling volume was 5.55GAL. It's a Southern English Brown ale. According to the style it should "low" in terms of carbonation. So I calculated 2.3 Carbonation volume using BeerSmith. I think I used 4.2oz by weigh of Corn Sugar. After 3.5 week...

need advice on Brewers Best English Brown Ale - low OG second time

I've read by someone else that even with vigorous mixing you might get false result. In my last batch I missed the OG by .010 with extracts. I shaked the bucket like there were no tomorrow, and I'm sure I didn't do any error in calculating/recipe.

Quick - Can I take a gravity reading at begining of fermentation?

Sorry I meant partial BOIL and not partial MASH. It's not a kit it's my own recipe and planned my recipe in beersmith. I used all the one I added in the recipe. So I should think it is 1.060 and not 1.050 because it's extract and thus "100%" efficiency?

Quick - Can I take a gravity reading at begining of fermentation?

Made the beer yesterday and pitched yeast almost 24 hours ago. It's currently fermenting and I was wondering if I could take a gravity reading (With evertything sanitized of course). Reason is yesterday when I took my reading I was at 1.050 instead 1.060 (calculated everything in beersmith)...

Hope boiling time with adding LME midway

Actually I add it 15 min before end of the boil just to make sure everything is sanitary.

Hope boiling time with adding LME midway

So I'm about to brew my second beer and planning everything. I was wondering, how do you calculate your hops boiling time when you remove the pot from the fire for 2-3-4 minutes near the end when you add late LME? Do you keep counting like you didn't remove the pot from the fire, or do you add...

    Secondary with lime

Ok Thank :) I'm still trying to figure how I would get this nice lemon flavor in the beer. Anyone tried lime juice directly in the secondary? Wouldn't it be less bitter and still give a nice lime flavor? Probably not as powerfull as zest I guess..
