Can I open my fermenting bucket?

Did not say that beer was sterile in any way... I was saying in situations where you open yourself up to contamination... it's the one thing most people overlook. It's a matter of not introducing microbes into the beer that shouldn't be there. So thanks but my experience does count...

Can I open my fermenting bucket?

Not to state the obvious but.... advice from someone that's worked in sterile lab conditions growing cell lines... If you open the bucket... NO TALKING until it's closed. It sounds ridiculous but seriously... in this situation, talking and therefore spit droplets will be your most likely...

    Need help getting unstuck

Thanks everyone... The beer has been sitting at a pretty steady 68 degrees and I have been adjusting my measurements for temp. I'll definitely stop stirring (hopefully I didn't oxidize things too much already). Last question I have for now is... when transferring to the carboy secondary, how...

    Need help getting unstuck

So it's my first brew and I'm still learning... I'm attempting this Night Cap Cherry Stout kit from Midwest Brewing. All of this was a Christmas present so unfortunately I'm using the Munton's dry yeast that came with it. So here's the deal... My OG was 1.042 (kit said OG should be...
