    Finally finished my keezer

Thanks! Overall build time was 3 months, but work on it was very here-and-there. If I had to estimate the number of hours I'd put it right around 65. Keep in mind that I'm an amateur at best when it comes to working with wood. Somebody a little more handy would have finished this a lot...

    Finally finished my keezer

Thanks everybody! I'm terrible at documenting builds. I actually had a lot of in-progress pics on my iPhone but loaded up the Beta of OS4, had problems, and lost a lot of them that weren't backed up. Here's what I do have: I started off with a simple frame around the freezer made from...

    Finally finished my keezer

HBT! I've been away a long time, but I've been busy! I just wanted to share pictures of my keezer that I could have never finished without help from the awesome people here. Not bad for a completely amateur woodworker if I dare say so myself. Even the pre-wife (who doesn't like beer)...

    Apfelwein additions

Hey folks, I'm still pretty new, but have my 4th batch of Apfelwein conditioning using EdWort's recipe that everybody here knows. The last few batches I've tried mixing things up a bit to see how different ingredients would affect the final product. I've got plenty of friends that love the...

Adjustments for 2gal to 5gal boil

Hey guys, I'm trying to step up my brewing from extract with steeping grains to partial mash. I'm brewing a double chocolate stout from AHS tomorrow. The instructions say to mash and boil 2 gallons but I recently got my full boil setup going. I realize that I'll get better hop utilization...

Hardware necessary for tubing to Perlicks

Thanks for the tips, guys! Yes sir! Mazda's Renesis rotary (a few years old now but was new to the RX-8) You're right, Yooper. Thanks for the catch.

Hardware necessary for tubing to Perlicks

Hey guys, I'm working on my keezer and bought a 4-keg Midwest kit that came with picnic taps because I wanted to get Perlick faucets instead of the faucets that came with their kit that included them. As such, I need to get shanks and tails to connect the 3/8" hose to the faucets, but am...

2 taps on the keezer, or 3?

I vote 3 for variety: Schwarzbier Flavor of the month Apfelwein

First batch (high esters) worth keeping?

Hey guys, I tried my first batch last week (a nut brown ale) after a month in primary (no secondary) and 2 1/2 weeks conditioning in the bottles (I figured that was close enough to 3 weeks :fro:). Long story short, it's horrible. I got about 1/3 of the way through the bottle but couldn't...

    Broke my Hydrometer

Man, bad day for hydrometers (and Charger fans :( ) yesterday. I broke mine as well brewing a Ruination clone....

Which would you buy and why?

The dual body regulator will let you keep your beers at two different pressures/carb levels

    Help choosing keg kit

One more question for those of you that got kits from Midwest: did you get ball or pin locks? The freezer I got won't fit 4 pin locks but ball locks will fit. Thanks!

    Help choosing keg kit

Thanks for all the tips guys. What would I need to keep the kegs at different pressures? Is it worth the additional expense?

    Help choosing keg kit

Hey guys! I picked up a 7 cu ft freezer yesterday to start my keezer build. I'm planning on a completely unapologetic and blatant rip-off of Jester's keezer (I should send him a case of beer or something). The freezer can fit 4 ball locks and a CO2 tank. This morning I started shopping...

    I HATE bottling!!

I know. It's got a reservoir for Jet Dry that's been filled for years. I can't believe how long that stuff lasts but there's still some in there and no good way to get it out. :drunk: Thanks! :mug:

Can't figure out how to get the Jet Dry out of mine.... :(

Ale fermentation temps: how cold is too cold?

Wow, thanks for all the responses guys! I'm trying to avoid the expense of a thermowell, temp controller and brew belt for each of my primaries that I'd be keeping in the cellar. Is the variance of a few degrees of brew temp (constant ambient temp) throughout the fermentation process really...

    I HATE bottling!!

+1,000,000 to Revvy's thread. I bottled once using the John Palmer-esque methods, read Revvy's thread and cut my time in half. Lots of great suggestions in there beyond Revvy's fantastic first post as well. The only reason I'm moving to kegging is that SWMBO is tired of hundreds of bottles...

Ale fermentation temps: how cold is too cold?

Hey guys, Living in So. Cal. we have relatively consistent temps in the winter that are pretty close to ideal for brewing beer (I have my primaries stored in my bar downstairs and they haven't strayed from 67-68 in weeks). In the summer it gets hot in my part of town...stupid hot. I...

Sizing your Chest Freezer for Corny Kegs

Groove, do you have room on the hump for a 10lb CO2 tank? I'm trying to decide between this and the Frigidaire 7.2 Lowes has, but if this fits 4 ball locks, I'll use the $60 more the 7.2 costs on something else! Thanks!
