Grounded Brewing Technologies - 240V eBIAB System

Easy fix would be a ball valve on the pump outlet to throttle flow.

    What's your go-to, workhorse yeast?

Really like this one for a good number of styles. But WY1318 is my high floccer that I generally use the most.

Krups SUB mini kegerator from Hopsy

This would be kind of cool for ginger beer for the wife actually.

Yep. But there are ways to mitigate those reactions during the mash. Look at the lodo forum there is all kinds of info there about that stuff.

I keep going back and forth on this idea, but the Utah Biodiesel basket probably would help with this. Just get a 400 or even a 600 mesh filter and I think this would never be an issue with the recirculating probably even wide open. Because the bags are much much finer then the 400 mesh/micron...

Malt conditioning is the ticket. Leaves hulls intact and less flour to gum it up. Also the riptide should really be restricted to a just a bit more then a trickle during the mash at least that's what I had mine at last time. https://www.brewersfriend.com/2010/01/16/malt-conditioning/

What came in the mail for you today?

    Irish Red recipe help

Midnight wheat could help with color and wouldn't impart the roasty taste. Is it Carafa III that's dehusked...can't remember if its 2 or 3. Whichever is dehusked would also be a good option for color and not impart that much of that roasty flavor.

I think I had one of the early hydra's and got a great price, so mine seems like its more oblong then round. So some of it sticks out of the top no matter how you position it.

Also my jaded brewing hydra chiller was a hard fit in the kettle with the boil coil. I did see that northern brewer has a stainless counterflow for 150 bucks. Anyone have one like this or have this exact chiller...

First brew day, everything went great. Took a preboil gravity at 1.031...pretty low. Boil went fine but in the confusion of using all the new stuff forgot to take post boil gravity. I used a couple different calculators out there to figure it up...just cause I didn't want to screw with getting...

I've been emailing Brewtech about the valve just to see what they would recommend to do or try. Nothing helpful back so far. I wonder if something like this would work better just so you could maybe wrench it down tighter to the kettle...

Don't think this will help their problem but I do like the idea in general.

Still I think the crush may have a lot to do with that. Could have a stuck mash and causing the flow to be limited through the bag. Should try conditioning the grain before milling. It's really easy.
