    PID Controller for RIMS

I second Ohio-Ed's advice. Just for the info already available on HBT and from Auber it is worth the difference in price. I'm not affiliated with Auber either. I also don't own one FWIW. I'm about to pull the trigger on a Brewtroller instead...

    Brewing With Propane and Burner

The man is correct. I went from 4 batches a tank (including strike and sparge) to more like 7, possible 8 (don't really pay that much attention). My chimney only extends up two inches above the bottom of my pot. My logic is that retains most of the heat while keeping the handles cooler. I...

Do I have problem with corny?

This is the first thing that came to my mind. I bought a used cornie that was assembled that way. The side labeled 'out' had the short dip tube on it. I obviously discovered it before beer went in, but it makes me double check every time I assemble a keg.

    Space between kegs in keezer

I don't think so. My Kegorator is tight front to back so the cornies in the front rest against the rear ones. No issues for me.

Help: How to keep fermentor at constant temp

There was a guy on here who made a ferm chamber out of pink insulation board and a small a/c unit. Another guy did the same with a small dorm fridge as the cooling unit. Both are pretty good ideas for a cheap solution... As for the fridge idea that could work too. Plenty of those on CL for...

    Fridge conversion noob

A big plus 1 to this. I literally threw out the taps I had before my Perlicks.... No one (even my worst enemy) deserved that pain. I have a four-taper. Go door mount (with the 2x4 backer) watching tap height as another poster said. Don't worry about the floor re-enforcement. I doubt that you...

Need Advice--Have not seen this before

As usual the Rev is on the money. Hydrometer for the win... I will second his comments on leaving out the secondary. After I read that advice and stopped racking it off and opting for a month in the primary instead, my beers are much better. The first 'month in the primary' beer I made...

What is your reaction when you discover a 'local' beer is actually contract brewed?

I agree. It looks like we are in the minority, but I can't really fault the opposing viewpoint either. I suppose it is like many things- personal preference. For me it comes down to supporting those I feel deserve my money. Besides not buying a particular beer is a great motivation to create...

Brew Room Mostly Done - 1st Batch Today

Beautiful setup sir! Thanks for sharing.... I really like the attention to detail. You are a true craftsman!

DIY Air Distributor w/ individual regulators

So am I. Take it from me that cleaning your regulator gets annoying after the first time. Another aspect to consider is backflow to the other kegs. Now that REALLY sucks. I hooked up a keg of smoked stout when I had an IPA, BM's Centennial Blonde, and a Pale Ale. The stout had carbed up in...

Motherf*@er!: Or, I got my first infection yo

Those 'filmy' bubbles scream pedio infection to me. However when I have suffered from pedio, it never has affected the taste or smell, just appearance. If it smells cidery you have some sort of bacterial growth goin' on there... Rack it from under the funk and give it a try. I would keg it if...

    www.fiftypoundsack.com - cheap bulk grain

I totally agree. If you don't support your LHBS, you may find yourself without one... I'm lucky with my LHBS. 25kg (55lb) of Gambrius 2-row (malted here in BC) is ~$38 Canuckistani Pesos ($37 USD). Hard to beat that. No need to buy bulk for me to save it seems.

    Use for spent grains

I compost all of mine. City bylaws prevent any wildlife that would appreciate it being around me. A guy I know who brews commercially gives his grain to a local dairy farmer for the cows. The first time I went to see his brewery, I arrived just in time to help load garbage cans full of spent...

Why and when did you start brewing?

For me it started in 2006. A old buddy of mine from the neighbourhood happened to be in a college class with one of my housemates. He invited the guy over to reconnect and reminisce. Buddy shows up with a pile of beer with no labels. As background, this man can drink... Him polishing a case...

    JSP Maltmill and rat urine

I'm with Gila... The good thing about the JSP mill is the ease of dis-assembly. Consider replacing the fibreboard sides while you are at it. That material will readily absorb the nastiness and never let it go. Maybe replace it will aluminum while you are at it? I'm planning to do mine...

Can you Brew It recipe for Firestone Walker Union Jack

FWIW I dumped mine in all at once... Just finished a keg of this stuff. Fantastic beer! I used Notty (repitched on most of a cake from a previous IPA). Finished up at 1013. I can't say it was too dry, the hop flavour didn't help make it apparent if it was. I'll be trying this one again...

    Bottle Crates

Right on the money sir! I like the plastic crates myself. Cleaning up bottle bombs is no problem, just hose 'er off.

Where to buy silicone tubine in Vancouver, BC?

Well you could work with UPS in a pinch... Just do the following to make sure you don't get banged up with brokerage: Once you get a tracking number you call UPS and tell them you are going to 'self-broker' that package. They will call you when it arrives at the warehouse out at YVR. You go...
