    Hacking a wine kit.

I am about ready to start a low end Wine Expert kit, one of the Chais Maison styles. I thought about adding a litre or two of Welches grape juice to enhance the flavour a bit. The staff at my lhbs say this is not a good idea because Wine Expert kits are fine tuned and should not be tampered with...

Thanks for the reply, Honda88. Would that be regular table sugar or corn sugar?

    Increasing ABV

I recently did a WineExpert merlot which turned out quite nice with an abv of about 10/11 %. I am more used to 13/14 %. How can I up the abv in my next kit?

    Iodine sanitiser?

Hoping for an answer and trying to keep my post from getting buried.

    Iodine sanitiser?

On the advice of a friend I went to my local pharmacy and bought a bottle of Betadine to use to sanitise my wine equipment. The bottle reads: 10% Providone Iodine, 1% available iodine. Is this anything like Idofor? If so, what would the mix ratio be for a no-rinse solution?

Toadyus: I get mine at my local brew shop. $32, no tax. The kits are very popular here in Saint John. Each shipment sells out fast. Joe

    Festa Brew kits

I`ve done three FestaBrew kits so far and I am happy with them. The beer turns out well and the kits are super easy to use. I brewed their brown ale and the cream ale and the Bock. The Bock I didn`t care for. A tad too roasty-malty for me. The next brew will be their IPA. Have not had a problem...

    A batch all to yourself?

Not to hint that home brewers are selfish but has anyone been able to keep a favourite batch all to themselves. I can`t. Joe, :mug:

    Krausen hanging on

Thanks for the input, guys. I`ll take a reading tonight.

    Krausen hanging on

It`s been a week since I started a batch of kit cream ale. Dry hopped. The krausen began to appear within twelve hours. It still has not dropped. OG was 50. Fermenting temp stayed around 68-70 degrees. Previous batches of amber and brown ale dropped the krausen in about three days. This brew...

    Behind in my postings

Got a notice telling me I have not posted anything for several weeks and maybe I should join in once in a while. Well ... something to that effect. I do check the forums every day. There is always something to be learned. I have done only three batches so far, all very easy kit beers. The...
