    Has anyone made Sake before?

Thanks for the reply. When I started searching the forum for sake posts, I did see your name come up alot. Im just looking to make a small batch of sake...would like to keep it as simple as possible for the first batch. Are the kits from B3 any good?

Getting a keg ready to drink end of Sept.

She claims space ie not enough of it. Money is a bit tight right now as well and we have baby #2 coming in Nov. so I wont be pushing for it anytime soon. I really dont want to be the victim of hormonal rage  In the meantime, Id like to have a keg on tap for a party I am throwing late...

    For you Mac users

I dont think so either. I have it at work so I can check it out on Monday.

    For you Mac users

Thats true...and I do at work...but not at home. Either way, I would still use Beer Alchemy. Of course I have never used ProMash so its not the best comparison. But, BA has some great features! I guess that answers Beerifics question as well.

    Fermentation Chamber w/ Refrigeration

Nice work! I just gutted my mini fridge and I am going to use it either as a fermentation cooler or turn it into a one corny kegerator :D Of course, mine isnt going to look half as good as yours. Good read!

Using the trial version of Beer Alchemy (and I own Beer Tools). It is a great program. I would recommend it!

Getting a keg ready to drink end of Sept.

I have all the kegging gear but SWMBO blocked the kegerator idea for now. Id like to have a corny on ice for a party Im having end of Sept. So I was wondering if I could prime the keg beforehand and then just hook it up to gas the day before the event. I figure half the priming sugar as I would...

    Smack Pack-- how long?

I would still recommend a starter. Its a good habit to get into, and i think is even more important with your situation. A starter will get your count up, you will have less lag time, and you should hit your target FG. Its not hard at all. Do a search and you will find a ton of how-to's. If...

    Smack Pack-- how long?

Smack it today and make a starter for the weekend. This way you know if it is viable or not.

Anyone used Wyeast 1275 Thames Valley Ale?

I used it on a ESB and it turned out pretty good. ESB ended up with a pretty clean flavor (no noticeable fruity esters) and a light malt flavor.

    Fish Tank Heater

Aquarium heater in a water bath is your best bet. Definitely dont use a heater directly in the carboy...way too uneven. Also, make sure you get yourself a submersible heater. The one olllllo linked is not. That one has a bracket to hang off the edge of the tank so the end with the dial doesnt...

    Christmas cider?

Sorry for all the questions...but what do you mean by wait on the clove and cinnamon? So you are saying that I stick with the amounts you listed for a 5g batch? I suppose I can do a little experimenting before I bottle.

    Christmas cider?

I ended up ordering a cider yeast from MidWest. Im thinking of doing a 5 gallon batch with true cider. After it is done fermenting, I will rack it over to secondary and let it clear out for awhile. Then, when its time to bottle, I will create a spiced tea with cinammon cloves orange zest ginger...

    Christmas cider?

I think that recipe is a good start! Im curious if anyone has gone the route of adding the spices at the bottling stage through a spiced tea. That way you can retain all of the characteristics that might otherwise deteriorate during fermentation. I would also like to formulate a 5g batch and use...

    Christmas cider?

So Im thinking of bottles of spiced cider to hand out to my family this year. Ive searched high and low for a decent recipe and I havent found anything really solid. Im curious if anyone has a recipe OR perhaps we can put together a recipe collectively and all make the same batch and compare...

No real reason. I might mix it up a little bit more in the hops dept.

    Please critique my recipes...

Yea Im using a trial version of Beer Alchemy right now (its Mac only) I think you actually suggested it in a thread Beerrific and then I checked it out. I already put down some cash for BeerTools a few months back but Beer Alchemy is so good, I might still buy it! Thanks for the feedback so...

My new lable - Bourbon Barrel Aged Old Ale

I like it! Much easier to read now. The only other thing you might run into is not being able to read the Bourbon Barrel type in its entirety when the label is on a bottle because of how the label is curved. Might as well mock one up and try it out though. Looks good!

    My brewing fantasy...

Same thing goes for Victory Brewpub. The first time you are bound to miss it. Its located in a industrial park. The building used to be part of the Pepperidge Farms plant I believe.
