    Dry Hopping and Secondary Fermenters

Not really. Keep the end of the auto-siphen up off the bottom until I need it down that far. At that point most of the beer is already in the keg and/or bottling bucket.

    Dry Hopping and Secondary Fermenters

I have reuseable nylon mesh hop bags that I sanitize and tie on the end of my auto siphen. It really does a good job of keeping the hop trub out of my keg/bottling bucket. Just tie it on and rack as you normally would. enjoy!!!!!

    Recommendations for 1st extract brew

Not as sexy beer to brew, but my kit came with a lame-o American Light Ale kit that I was not to thrilled about brewing, but I have to say it was a cheap kit to use to form some sort of process around. I figured it I screwed it up, oh well it was an american light, right?! It didn't take long...

For all you Pale Ale and IPA brewers - dry hopping?

It is personal preference, but my preferred preference is to dry hop!!!!!!!!!! I just kegged a SN torpedo type of a beer and dry hopped with 1.5 oz. of 3 different hops. Citra being one of them, first time using citra and I can't wait to give it a shot!!!!!

What's your min time from brew to tap?

When you guys are talking "tapping" are you talking about hooking up to the CO2 or actually pouring a pint and drinking? I see 7-12 days in previous posts. If I am reading it right, you guys are saying 7-12 after brewing you are drinking the beer? WOW!!!

What's your min time from brew to tap?

Hmmmm........I guess I am really slow. I usually leave in the primary for 4 weeks, dry hopping the last week of the 4 if I dry hop. Then I put it on CO2 using the set it and forget it method. I usually don't draw a pint until 3 weeks after kegging. I have had great success with this, but I...

    Strainer Bags for Dry Hopping

sanitize the bag for sure, if you use one. I don't use a bag when I dry hop. The pellets go straight in. I use a strainer bag tied around my auto siphon when I rack to a keg or bottling bucket. It keeps the hop sludge out of the beer. In fact just got done kegging a SN Torpedo type of...

    Dry hopping question

+1 on dry hopping in the primary. No need to move to a secondary in the first place, especially if you are short on time, just toss those bad boys in the primary and get it done!!!

    clean, lager like ale

Check the specs on the Wyeast California Lager like mentioned above. I think it will do exactely what you are shooting for. It is a lager yeast that mantains lager qualities up to 65 degrees. I don't think you have to treat it like a lager at all. Just ferment in that range and you should...

    Keg carbonating w/priming sugar

There are carbonation calculators for just this sort of question. http://tastybrew.com/calculators/priming.html This calculator can help you as far as what CO2 volumes for a specific style of beer and exactly how much corn sugar to add. Check it out.

    Fuller's ESB

Anyone have a full boil recipe for Fuller's ESB, or can someone educate me on how to tweek the above to come up with one? I prefer to do 6 gallon extract batches that end with 5 gallons of finished wort to ferment. One of the beers on the planet in my opinion. I think it sets the style.

Doing my first stout today... any tips?

I am by no means experienced, only been brewing a year. The next beer I have to open up is a stout. I used Irish Ale Yeast. I think it gives beers just a slight creamyness especially the head of the beer. It worked out great for an Irish Red last year and I thought I'd use it for the stout...

    Native Hops

Without knowing the AA% of the hops it is hard to make a good brew. It would all be a crapshoot in other words. For bittering I would buy some hops that you knew the AA% and maybe use the wild hops for flavor hops and dry hopping if you choose to do that. That way you know where your...

    SN Torpedo Recipe help

I need some expert advise. I have been tracking a SN Torpedo recipe on the extract forum. It was done with a 3 gal. boil. I want to do a full 6 gal. boil to end up with a 5 gal. batch. This will be my first non-kit recipe and I have never really messed with any recipe calculators. This is...
