    Bad taste from Silicone Hoses.

Have you tried calling around any homebrew stores in the area? Google says that Beer & Pop Discount sells brewing equipment, although they don't have an online catalog to let me tell what they sell. Failing that, MoreBeer have a warehouse in western PA, and will get hose to you in a day...

    Interesting German Brewing PDF

It's really not a good idea to rely on people understanding what you mean by "quotes" with safety advice.

    Interesting German Brewing PDF

@rabeb25 This is dangerously wrong. N2 is much more dangerous than CO2 with respect to suffocation. N2 is completely undetectable by the body, and the effect of it increasing past about 85% in the air is for you to drop unconscious with no warning, and no warning signs to others. CO2, on...

    Starting my eletric setup, questions

IME, the simplest option to boost a weak stove is a HotRod type element on a stick, powered off of a kitchen 15 or 20A 110V circuit. No need for a control box - just plug in the HotRod, and adjust the stove's power to control the boil. Later you can either sell it as a unit, or use it to heat...

How to stop teenagers begging for beers

Bourbon county would probably put them off quicker. It's an _acquired taste_...

Brew Bucket by SS Brewing Technologies

I am a physicist. Even with completely still gases initially in layers, the diffusion constant of oxygen in CO2 is such that sufficient oxygen to cause mild oxidation will get to your beer in a few minutes of the vessel being open or air being allowed in to the vessel.

Panel can't distinguish beer mashed at pH 6.39 from pH 5.17

Well, technically and pedantically (this is science, pedantry is what we do ;) ), exBeeriments are all either positive results or null results - they test a hypothesis against the null hypothesis. A more complete and accurate statement of the results is "When brewing this no-sparge IPA fined...

How to stop teenagers begging for beers

No, they are parallel legal systems, with parallel laws in certain areas. In practice with pot, the Feds don't bother if the case doesn't involve crossing state-lines or a state which hasn't legalized recreational pot, although Sessions seems to want to change that. In some (all?) areas they...

Panel can't distinguish beer mashed at pH 6.39 from pH 5.17

No, it's not really a correct process. Experimental design should include an element of sensitivity analysis, which is sadly missing from this exbeeriment. The received wisdom that is being tested is that you are unlikely to get astringency without a high temperature sparge, even ignoring mash...

What to do with overly large Zucchini?

Big zucchini/courgettes are called marrows in the UK, and treated as a different vegetable, including in Indian cooking. Googling "marrow recipes" should help with some ideas. You can hollow them out and stuff and bake them.

Panel can't distinguish beer mashed at pH 6.39 from pH 5.17

Oh, and it was no-sparge, so no water above 170F added, which, together with high pH, is what's needed to extract tannins.

How to stop teenagers begging for beers

To the OP's question: a) as long as they aren't drinking Buckfast, you're ahead. b) y'know that batch with the terrible off-taste - give them that. That should stop them asking for more of your beer. Or will at least get rid of it for you. ;)

    CraftBeerPi - Raspberry Pi Software

If he uses the terragady board (maybe the official CraftBeerPi board as well?) for breaking out the Pi outputs, that also includes a 12v-5v voltage regulator, so that the Pi will be powered off the same 12v. A simple 12v switch mode supply with may 5-7A output current will happily run the pumps...

    Grainfather!!

I'd guess at some kind of thermal overload protection or just a connection that got damp and dried out again overnight.

Best tc rims tube on the market

The Brewhardware camlock one works well as far as the elements and temperature probe fittings go. I assume that the all triclover one would be equally good.

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Naturally carb it. There's two reasons: 1) natural carbing will use up oxygen introduced in transfer to the keg 2) when you have a tap and gas line free, it'll already be carbed, and you can start drinking as soon as it's cold enough for you. I'd naturally carb even if I had a tap open -...

    CraftBeerPi - Raspberry Pi Software

Oh, interesting. Strange how the Raspberry Pi specs and tutorials all insist there is only one PWM output. OTOH, how much CPU resource does running a couple of high-speed PWM pins use at say 1 to 5 kHz cycle times, which is what the DC pumps need (AIUI)?

    CraftBeerPi - Raspberry Pi Software

There Pi only has one PWM capable output, and I don't know how high in frequency it can go. There are PWM output add on boards though.

Refrigerator Freezer Combo - To combine top and bottom or no?

If it works as you describe, a concern with just controlling the fridge as is is that at higher temperatures, the freezer may not stay frozen, making it fairly useless and wasted space and energy. However, I'm not sure it can work like that - having the fridge at a high setting and low loss...
