    cream soda

Thank you very much. If I were to use fresh squeezed OJ, any thoughts on how much I may want to use in a small batch that yields only 2 cups of syrup? At least what might be a good starting point. Thank you very much for the help.

    Soda Help - Natural Carbonation

I use yeast for my root beer. I also use the star brand champagne yeast. If you're not using Star brand champagne yeast, I would strongly recommend using it. It is very clean tasting, and works great. I use just a touch less than 1/4tsp per gallon. Hope this may help.

I need a rootbeer recipe and a supplier

The nutmeg is ground. I'm not sure how it tastes when its keged. Hopefully good because I think eventually I would like to do the same. I also created a video last night of me making my root beer so if you think it might help I can post a link here for you once I have it on my yahoo channel.

So i found out how to make a delicious cream soda and can't stop drinking the stuff. So last night while I was enjoying a tall glass of it and my wife sat across from me drinking sunkist, it hit me. What about an orange cream soda? Here is my question. How would i make that possible? Right now...

    Yeast Measuring

I had a bit of a misshap last night. It seems that i may have put in to much yeast into my root beer and 11-16oz bottles had to be dumped, or sprayed rather, down the drain. I like to have my bottles ready.to go in the fridge the same time as everything else. How can I more accurately measure...

I need a rootbeer recipe and a supplier

No it is not. I use every one of the ingredients in a "non-powder" form. I would imagine that not only is it easier clean up but also keeps the root beer itself cleaner.

    Rootbeer sweetening

I too used some maltdextrine in some experiments. I had two recipes that I was working on, we will call them A and B. So I took a gallon of A and B and put 8oz of maltdextrine into each one. Everything went well up till it was time to consume. In batch A, there was a really bad flavor that it...

The most root beer I have ever done

Well tonight I made 5 gallons worth of root beer. 3 gallons on what I m calling my "signature" recipe and 2 gallons of what I have named my "Honey Boo Boo Drank." Obviously all my roots showed up today but I am not doing to much experimentation with these this time. I have been without root beer...

    Rootbeer sweetening

Yes it is used for thickening. To much and you will end up with jello, at least that's what I have been told. If you are already using sugar in the recipe then I don't know that you need to add another sweetener but I am also uncertain of this. Good luck let me know how it goes. I'll be trying...

    Head/Mouthfeel

I thought I was going to focus on just yucca root, which I have coming Monday, but I also want to include maltdextrine. Now I have two pretty good root beer recipes and would like to improve mouthfeel and head/retention with my recipes. I have been doing some looking on how much yucca root to...

    Rootbeer sweetening

I was on the same hunt and the answer to this that was given to me was to use Malt-Dextrine. I will be getting some this coming Monday when my shipment of roots show up. You may also want to give it a try. was also told a little goes a long way. I think like 1tsp or less/gallon. I would imagine...

    Oktoberfest Root Beer Idea

The tea bag idea is exactly what I was thinking to. Perhaps the pumpkin spice recipe is another thing I will need to experiment with to get the flavor just right. :D Thank you for your reply on this.

    Oktoberfest Root Beer Idea

Thank you both for your replies. Well I wasn't sure what Pumpkin Spice was exactly so I decided to do some looking and quickly found the answer. Turns out I have almost everything I need to make it except allspice and cloves if I decided to go with one or both of those ingredients. So since I...

    Oktoberfest Root Beer Idea

Now I am not a beer drinker and never was so please forgive me if I am not correct in some of my thoughts. I have done some (by some I mean very little) research about Oktoberfest beers and it seems that these beers are heavier than a light beer and have some fall type flavors. Well I have an...
